Abbott Scholarships have been offered. The scholarship began with a portion of the legacy of the late Leon M. Abbott, 33°, who served as Sovereign Grand Commander from 1921-1932.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the Leon M. Abbott Scholarship Program, applicants must meet specific criteria related to their affiliation with the Scottish Rite Masons.
- Applicants must be a Scottish Rite Mason of the Northern Masonic Jurisdiction.
- Applicants must be a student directly related (bloodline or by legal means) to a Scottish Rite Mason in the Northern Masonic Jurisdiction.
- Applicants must be a member of a youth organization sponsored by the Masonic fraternity in the Northern Masonic Jurisdiction.

The aim of the scholarship is to help get more well-trained health care professionals serving the Stockton community in the area of diabetes healthcare and management. As an Abbott Fund Scholarship recipient, you will complete coursework that helps you gain competencies in diabetes prevention, management, and education.

The application process varies per program. Acceptance decisions are announced prior to the beginning of your program. Receiving this scholarship will reduce your cost of attendance which could impact the amount of other financial aid you might otherwise be eligible to receive.

General Application Information for Abbott Scholarships
Regardless of the specific scholarship program, several general guidelines apply to the application process.
If you choose to apply, be sure to submit your application and all the required documents prior to your country’s deadline. Late applications are not accepted. Late applications are considered incomplete and will not be accepted.
Applicants will be notified of their scholarship status approximately three months after the deadline date.
At the conclusion of the school year, scholarship recipients will need to submit a school grade report(s) or transcript. School grade reports must include first and second semester grades for the school year in which the scholarship was awarded. The student’s School Grade Report is not due until the following year after receiving the scholarship from the Foundation. School grade reports are required for 2 semesters from all those who receive an award. You can submit your student’s first semester grades and proof of enrollment in the second semester. You are still required to submit the second semester grades when available (must be within 12 months of receiving the award).
You are required to notify The Foundation of any changes to your student’s enrollment status. This includes, moving from full-time to part-time, no longer attending, etc. Depending on the situation, a refund may be required.
Please be certain to use only the current application form. Please make certain that the correct application is used for the appropriate situation. Remember that all applications and supporting documentation must be submitted and signed by the Valley Scholarship Committee Chairman.
