Scribner, Cohen and Company, S.C. is a trailblazer among Milwaukee firms in helping students take their first steps towards rewarding, lifelong careers. Over almost 40 years, we have refined our internship program to provide everyone who comes through our doors with an exceptional learning experience.

Program Structure and Training:

Scribner, Cohen and Company, S.C. selects four to eight students annually who can commit to at least 40 hours per week from the first week of January through April 15th. Their program requires the completion of Intermediate Accounting and Income Tax I prior to the start date. They extend the opportunity to work overtime based on availability of work and individual performance. Interns receive two weeks of intensive training in both accounting and tax technical skills and procedures. Interns work closely with all levels of professional staff and will spend a significant amount of time working one-on-one with the shareholders.

As a career changer, I had experienced life as a new hire once or twice elsewhere. Interning at Scribner painted me a new and very welcome picture. A great framework was set by the company, but the individual direction and input that I was able to give really stood out. I chose to pursue tax, but am still able to branch out into a variety of business work, including accounting for non-profits. I’m now happy to provide time to help train the new internships participants, and also grateful to keep learning from the more senior staff and shareholders.
