Since its inception, the Foundation has awarded over $526,950 in scholarships to 586 talented Riverside County high school seniors. For over three decades, the Altura Foundation has championed the next generation, empowering more than 970 students with over $870,000 in scholarship support since 1993.

Scholarship Opportunities

Altura Credit Union offers a range of scholarship opportunities for graduating high school seniors in Riverside County. The Altura Foundation has increased the scholarship award amounts to $2,000. In a recent year, Altura Credit Union awarded $38,000 in college scholarships to seniors graduating from Riverside County high schools.

General Scholarships: Thirty-five scholarships are directly funded by the Altura Scholarship Foundation.

AVID Program Recognition: Five scholarships specifically recognize students participating in AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) programs.

  • The Dr. Barnett Grier and Eleanor Jean Grier Scholarship Fund: This fund honors their efforts to ensure equality in education, housing, employment, and opportunity for underrepresented and disadvantaged citizens in Riverside.

  • The Elizabeth C. and Jack B. Clarke, Sr. Endowed Scholarship Fund: This fund honors the late councilman and his wife for their service to the Riverside community.

Any student graduating from a public or private high school within Riverside County is eligible to apply for these scholarships. Scholarship recipients are selected based on their academic record, an essay detailing their college goals, financial need, and extracurricular activities.
