Navigating Your ASU Student Account: A Comprehensive Guide
For students attending Arizona State University (ASU), understanding how to manage their student accounts, billing, and payments is essential. This guide provides a detailed overview of accessing your account, payment options, financial aid resources, and what to do if you encounter difficulties in paying your charges on time.
Accessing Your Student Account
To effectively manage your financial obligations at ASU, you need to know how to access your student account. Here’s how:
- My ASU: The primary portal for accessing your student account is My ASU. Once logged in, select the "Finances" tab to view your bills and make payments.
Granting Access to Parents or Guardians
Due to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), ASU cannot disclose your student account, billing, or personally identifiable information to third parties without your explicit consent. If you wish to grant your parents or guardians access to your billing and financial aid information, you must complete the guest add form. This will allow them to complete tasks related to your financial aid on your behalf.
Payment Options
ASU offers various convenient payment options to accommodate different student preferences and financial situations.
- eCheck: ASU's preferred payment method is eCheck, which is a free service. To use eCheck, you will need your bank's routing number and your account number, which can be found on the bottom of your checks or obtained from your financial institution.
- Credit or Debit Card: ASU does not directly accept credit or debit card payments for tuition and student account charges. However, they have arranged for a third-party processor to accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express payments online through QuikPAY. Be aware that the processor charges a non-refundable service fee of 2.5% for domestic and 4.25% for international credit and debit card payments.
- International Payments via Flywire: International students can make payments safely and securely through Flywire. This service allows payments from banks worldwide with favorable exchange rates, typically in your home currency. Flywire is the only vendor authorized by ASU to facilitate international payments.
- Check or Money Order: You can also make payments via check or money order. Make the check or money order payable to Arizona State University and include your student ID number on the memo line.
ASU Payment Plan
The ASU payment plan provides students with the option to budget the payment of certain eligible university charges over several months within the semester.

Late Payments and Returned Checks
It is crucial to make payments on time to avoid late fees. Late payments and returned checks will result in late fees.
Understanding Tuition and Fees
It's important to understand the difference between tuition and fees. Tuition is what you pay to attend classes and earn your degree. When someone says, “Tuition is $12,000 dollars,” that usually means it is $12,000 for the entire year (i.e., fall and spring semester - summer sessions tuition is usually additional). Along with tuition costs, students usually have to pay other fees. These can include athletic, lab, and technology fees. Note that your tuition does not include certain things like your books, campus housing, and food.
Financial Aid
Most students at ASU take advantage of financial aid.
What If You Can't Pay on Time?
If you are unable to pay your charges by the Tuition & Fee Payment Deadline, you may enroll in the ASU Payment Plan. The ASU payment plan offers you the option to budget your payment of certain university charges over several months within the semester.
Federal Perkins Loan Repayment
Monthly payments depend on your loan amount and length of your repayment period. Payments can be made online. For complete details on repaying your Federal Perkins Loan, visit tuition.asu.edu/perkins-loan-repayment.
