Maximizing Your Sun Devil Experience: A Guide to ASU Student Ticket Discounts for Athletic Events

Arizona State University (ASU) offers a vibrant and exciting atmosphere for its students, especially when it comes to supporting Sun Devil Athletics. Taking advantage of student ticket discounts is a fantastic way to immerse yourself in the university's spirit, cheer on your favorite teams, and create lasting memories. This guide provides comprehensive information on how ASU students can access discounted tickets for various athletic events.

Eligibility for Student Tickets

Currently enrolled ASU students, taking one or more credits, who pay the Athletic Fee are eligible for student tickets at all Sun Devil athletic events. Non-fee-paying students may purchase community tickets and sit in the student section.

Maricopa Community College students are also eligible to purchase student tickets, but on a single-game basis only. These tickets must be purchased in person on Game Day at the Sun Devil Ticket Office at Desert Financial Arena. A valid Maricopa Community College ID must be presented at the time of purchase. Ticket prices vary by event. Only one ticket per student is available while seats remain.

Understanding the Student "Ticket": The Wristband System

For many Sun Devil sporting events, your "ticket" is a student wristband that you will receive prior to each game. This wristband grants you entrance to The Inferno, the designated student section. For football, The Inferno is located within Sun Devil Stadium's north and south end zones.

Obtaining Your Wristband: A Step-by-Step Guide

Wristband distribution is typically on a first-come, first-serve basis and available while supplies last. To ensure you secure your spot, arrive early and be prepared.

  1. Check the Venue and Entrance: Wristbands are generally distributed at specific entrances to the venue. Here's a breakdown of common locations:

    • Wells Fargo Arena (Basketball): Wristbands are distributed at the south entrance to Desert Financial Arena one hour prior to tip-off. Wristbands are distributed at the east and west entrances to Wells Fargo Arena one (1) hour prior to tip-off.
    • Farrington Softball Stadium: Wristbands are distributed at the main entrance one hour prior to first pitch.
    • Phoenix Municipal Stadium: Wristbands are distributed at the main entrance one hour prior to first pitch.
    • Oceanside Ice Arena or Gila River Arena (Hockey): Wristbands are distributed at the main entrance one hour prior to puck drop.
    • Sun Devil Stadium (Football): Wristbands are distributed inside the west entrance of Wells Fargo Arena six (6) hours prior to kick-off.
  2. Arrive Early: Wristbands are distributed one hour prior to the start time for most sports. For football, wristbands are distributed six hours prior to kick-off. Arriving early significantly increases your chances of getting a wristband.

  3. Have Your Student ID Ready: You must present your student ID to pick up your wristband. ASU students must have their student ID swiped in order to gain admittance into Sun Devil Athletic Events. Students can only use their own student ID.

  4. Plan to Pick Up Wristbands Together: If you and your friends want to sit together in the student section, plan to pick up your wristbands together in line.

  5. Know the Exception: No wristband is needed for events at the Mona Plummer Aquatic Center. The entrance opens an hour before the event, and seating is first-come, first-serve and available while supplies last.
