Navigating the Augsburg University Student Portal: A Comprehensive Guide

Augsburg University provides a wealth of online resources for its students, accessible through the student portal. This guide will help you navigate the portal and understand the essential information and tools available to you as an Auggie.

Getting Started: Admission and Enrollment

Your journey at Augsburg University begins with your acceptance. Congratulations on being admitted! The first step is to share the good news with your family and friends. Then, take the following steps to secure your place:

  1. Submit Your Enrollment Decision: If Augsburg is the right fit for you, confirm your enrollment through the Admitted Student Portal. This reserves your spot in the incoming class.
  2. Connect with Admissions: Learn more about the Augsburg experience by scheduling an individualized appointment. You'll have the opportunity to meet with your admissions counselor, talk with current students, and tour the campus.
  3. Discuss Financial Aid: Once you receive your financial aid award letter, connect with your admissions counselor to discuss the cost of education, loan information, payment plans, and student work options. Pay close attention to scholarships and the overall cost of attendance, noting that many scholarships are awarded for all four years.

Utilizing the Admitted Student Portal

The Admitted Student Portal is your central hub for staying on track with your enrollment checklist. Here are some key tasks you'll find there:

  1. Activate Your AugNet Account: This is your primary Augsburg University account, providing access to various online resources.
  2. Complete Your Fall Class Schedule Form: Indicate your course preferences for the upcoming fall semester.
  3. Register for SOAR (Summer Orientation and Registration): SOAR is an essential program designed to help you transition to college life at Augsburg.
  4. Complete Your Residence Life and Meal Plan Contract: If you plan to live on campus, complete this contract by July 1st.
  5. Complete Your Immunization Form: The state of Minnesota requires all students to submit immunization records before beginning classes.
  6. Submit Official Transcripts: Request your final official high school transcript after graduation. If you have taken PSEO or CIS classes, or have AP or IB scores, request those transcripts to be sent to Augsburg as well. Note that transcripts must be sent directly from the institution to be considered official.
  7. Complete the Financial Planning Worksheet: This worksheet, available on your student status portal, provides tools for managing loans, minimizing debt, and understanding your finances.
  8. Schedule a Financial Aid Appointment: If you haven't already, schedule an appointment to discuss your financial aid package with a financial aid counselor.
  9. Contact CLASS Office (Center for Learning and Accessible Student Services): If you have a disability (ADHD, mental health, learning, physical/sensory impairment, chronic health condition, autism spectrum, or other), contact CLASS to begin the process of setting up accommodations and support. It is recommended to make appointments in advance of coming to Augsburg so that you have support during the transition and your enrollment, especially if you need appointments with psychiatry or on-going mental health therapy.

Accessing and Managing Your Student Account

Augsburg University uses AugNet as the central hub for accessing important student information.

  • FERPA and Information Release: The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) protects the privacy of your educational records, including billing and financial aid information. If you want to authorize Augsburg University to discuss your records with another individual (e.g., a parent), you must complete the online Information Release form in AugNet/Records and Registration.
  • Parent/Third-Party Access: With student authorization, parents or other third parties can view the student's statement and recent transaction history, make payments, enroll in a payment plan, and access the student's 1098-T form. Your student will need to log into Augnet to grant this access.
  • Quick Payment Option: You can make a payment on your student's account without logging in by using the "Quick Payment" option.
  • Parent PLUS Loans: Parents of dependent students may borrow a Parent PLUS Loan to help cover educational expenses.
