Navigating the Bellevue College Transcript Request Process: A Comprehensive Guide
Bellevue College (BC) serves as a launchpad for students pursuing academic advancement, career training, and personal growth. Whether you're a current student, a former student, or an alumnus, understanding how to access your academic transcript is essential. This article provides a comprehensive guide to requesting and understanding your Bellevue College transcript.
What is a Transcript?
Transcripts are official documents that contain a comprehensive record of your academic history at an institution. At Bellevue College, a transcript includes:
- Coursework
- Grades
- Credit hours
- Grade point average (GPA)
- Bellevue College degrees earned
Official vs. Unofficial Transcripts
Bellevue College offers both official and unofficial transcripts. Understanding the difference between the two is crucial.
Official Transcript:
- An official transcript represents a student’s permanent academic record and is kept by the college indefinitely.
- It is an original document generated and sent by the issuing school in a sealed envelope.
- It includes the signature of a college official and the college seal or is printed on secure transcript paper.
- E-Transcripts are considered official documents and can be validated through digital signature and certified by Bellevue University.
- Only students can request the release of official transcripts. Individuals or agencies who have permission to access a student’s record may view a transcript, but may not ask to obtain an official transcript.
- Official transcripts are required to be sent directly from the issuing institution to Bellevue University's Office of the Registrar to be considered an official document (if you’re transferring from another institution of higher education).
Unofficial Transcript:
- An unofficial transcript does not include the signature of a college official or the college seal (or its equivalent) of the issuing institution.
- The college provides access to unofficial transcripts so that students may track their progress towards degree completion, provide academic information for advising appointments, and view their quarterly grades.
- All current and former students can access their unofficial transcript online using their student ID number.
- The college allows use of unofficial transcripts from other colleges for academic advising, and for math and English placement decisions.
- Your unofficial transcripts are available real time to view and print within BRUIN.

Degree and Certificate Verification
Degree or certificate completion is noted on BC official transcripts if you have applied and qualified for a degree or certificate. Notation will be posted to transcripts approximately 2-4 weeks following the end of the quarter in which your degree or certificate is to be received. Degrees and certificates are conferred for the quarter in which the degree/certificate applications are received, not the last quarter when the required coursework are completed. To request an official letter verifying enrollment or degree/certificate completion, fill out an Enrollment Verification Request form.
