Belmont University Dorms: A Comprehensive Guide to On-Campus Living
Choosing to live on campus is a big part of the college experience. At Belmont University, Residence Life aims to empower students to make successful transitions to college, and a key part of that transition is learning to live with a roommate and navigate campus life. This guide provides essential information about Belmont's dorms, policies, and resources to help students make the most of their on-campus experience.
Move-In and Check-In
For new, incoming students participating in orientation activities, move-in is scheduled for Monday, January 6, 2025, from 9 am to 12 noon. It is important to adhere to these established check-in times, as Residence Life staff will be available during these hours to assist with the check-in process. New students not participating in orientation can check in any time after 9 am on January 6. After completing the check-in process, new students should pick up their ID from Campus Security.
Roommate Information
Living and forming relationships with people from different backgrounds is one of the greatest benefits of living on campus. Belmont encourages open communication and mutual respect between roommates.
Roommate Requests
Roommate requests for new, incoming students can be made through the online housing application on myBelmont account. All requests for the upcoming fall semester must be submitted by May 1. Returning students will complete the housing renewal process each year and will self-select a space. Returning students may pair themselves with a roommate via the housing portal prior to the selection process.
Roommate Agreement
All first-year students are required to complete Roommate Agreement online through Roompact software. Communication is essential to a positive, working relationship between roommates or suitemates. By discussing the topics outlined in the Roommate Agreement, roommates will begin to develop a relationship that is conducive to a positive community and academic environment as well as personal growth. When logging in to Roompact for the first time, you will be prompted to complete the Agreement Helper, which will ask you a series of questions. It's recommended that you and your roommate complete the agreement together, using one computer. At the bottom of the Agreement, a dialogue box will indicate if your roommate(s) have not signed yet.

Addressing Grievances
Sharing a room and space isn't always easy and can often lead to misunderstanding. If you believe that your roommate has infringed upon your right, express your concern to him/her. Developing a good relationship early on may help you to approach your roommate(s) when you discover an issue on which you do not agree. Also, be aware that your roommate(s) may approach you for similar reasons. Roommates do not have to be best friends, but they need to live amicably and respectfully. Roommates should share responsibility for the roommate relationship: To have a good roommate, be a good roommate! The right to address grievances is important.
Housing Options and Amenities
While specific details about each dorm can vary, Belmont offers a range of housing options to suit different student needs.
Lofting Kits
Belmont University provides lofting kits for student use. Outside lofting kits are not allowed.
Wright Hall
One student's experience in Wright Hall offers some insight into dorm life. While the student acknowledges that their experience hasn't been "entirely bad," they also point out that there are more modern halls on campus. They note that the rooms in Wright are significantly bigger than most college dorms, providing ample space. Additionally, Wright's location is ideal for music majors because it is right in the heart of the campus, and all of the classes are extremely close. However, the student expresses frustration with the underwhelming and "cheap-feeling" nature of Wright compared to other halls. The common areas in Wright/Maddox are sparsely furnished compared to the beautiful common areas in other freshmen halls with lots of seating, and some even have activities available such as pool tables, Wii, movies, etc. This disparity has led the student to feel like they are missing out on the full on-campus experience.
Housing for Married and Graduate Students
Belmont University does not provide married student housing. Beginning in Fall 2024, a limited number of graduate student options may be available. Reach out to our office for more information.
