Beta Alpha Psi: UCLA's Premier Accounting and Honors Society

Beta Alpha Psi (BAY) stands as UCLA’s premier accounting and honors society, dedicated to preparing its members for success in the accounting profession and related fields. The Lambda Sigma chapter of Beta Alpha Psi was founded at UCLA in 2004. Since then, we have been constantly growing and expanding our member and alumni network. The members of the Lambda Sigma chapter uphold a strong tradition of excellence on campus at UCLA.

Mission and Objectives

At BAY, the central mission revolves around equipping members with the resources, network, and connections necessary to excel in the accounting career. The organization works closely with Big 4 and mid-tier accounting firms to create opportunities for students to network, build and maintain relationships with those in the accounting profession. As an accounting honor society, Beta Alpha Psi places an emphasis on preparing members for the professional world.

Mentorship and Community

Through joining a mentorship team, members and pledges will have a designated family of their own. Outside of professional activities, there are also various social and volunteering events that allow members to bond and form a community of their own at UCLA. Unlike other scholastic organizations, Beta Alpha Psi dedicates time and energy into creating and maintaining a welcoming community.

UCLA Anderson Accounting Minor Program

The UCLA Anderson Accounting Minor program complements the activities of Beta Alpha Psi by providing students with a comprehensive education in financial and managerial accounting, taxation, financial statement analysis, and more. The Accounting Minor not only prepares students for a career as a CPA but can also help them acquire foundational analytical and financial skills for entry into varied roles within organizations, such as accounts payable/receivable, auditing, banking, bookkeeping, consulting, entrepreneurship, finance, investments, general management, and taxation.

Alumni Network

Beta Alpha Psi boasts a strong and successful alumni network, with graduates making significant contributions to the accounting profession and beyond. Our alumni go places. The society's extensive network of chapters across the United States and internationally provides members with valuable connections and opportunities for collaboration.

Like many other students, I first discovered BAY while exploring the countless organizations at EAF. At the time, I was simply looking for a club that could support my professional development and introduce me to the field of accounting. Since joining during my freshman fall quarter, I have yet to find another club that provides this many professional and social opportunities for students. It’s through this club that I’ve been able to develop professionally, and meet so many talented and like-minded people that I’m fortunate enough to call my friends today. I hope to recreate this experience alongside my Executive Board, and continue to serve both the students and professionals in hosting meaningful and insightful events. I started in the club just like many others, just a general member with little knowledge about the accounting industry. By attending BAY’s events, I became more comfortable speaking with professionals, gained a better understanding of the field, and built meaningful connections with both general members and board members alike. Following in the footsteps of my predecessors who strived to cultivate a welcoming and thriving community, I am committed to continuing their legacy and pushing BAY to new heights. To prospective accounting/business students and current members, I hope you find a home in BAY.
