This article delves into the various aspects of the academy, including its location advantages, training programs, academic partnerships, facility improvements, and success stories.
Prime Location and Exposure
Located in the heart of college hockey, Boston Hockey Academy offers unparalleled access to three major Division 1 conferences: Hockey East (Boston University, Boston College, Northeastern University, U-Lowell, Merrimack College), ECAC (Harvard University), and Atlantic Hockey League (Bentley University). This strategic location, minutes from the campus, maximizes player exposure to college scouts and recruiters.
Elite Training and Coaching
The Boston Hockey Academy players receive elite training and coaching, on and off the ice, to properly prepare them for junior hockey, NCAA college, and professional hockey. The academy provides specialized coaching in skating, skills, and goaltending. Players also benefit from game video review sessions and mental health support. The extended season (August-June) and a rigorous game schedule (50-60 games) provide ample opportunities for development and exposure. The academy also participates in a National Midget schedule that includes both US and Canadian prep schools.
Affordable Alternative
For local students, the Boston Hockey Academy is an affordable alternative to private boarding schools, allowing students to live at home while still receiving a private education.
Partnership with the Academy of Notre Dame

Success Stories and Development
BHA has improved each season. The best years are ahead, and the fact that they insist on a brick and mortar learning environment for their players is crucial. Young people should be in an actual high school when possible, and Notre Dame will provide a superb academic environment.
Several BHA players have achieved significant milestones:
- 2006 Gryphon Bucci was a USHL Draft pick and is headed to his second USA Hockey National Camp.
- Alexei Filimonov tendered with the Danbury Hat Tricks of the NAHL in April.
- Troy Pelton tendered with Corpus Christi (NAHL.)
- Zach Jesse is headed to Amherst College after a season in the NCDC.
- Jesse Horacek had a quality season in the NAHL and played in the Top Prospects Tournament.
- BHA Graduates Kai Shen and Dino Marretta won a Dineen Cup with the Islanders in the NCDC.
- Duke Riley Fitzgerald spent the last season in Cedar Rapids (USHL)
- 2005 Carter Richardson made his mark in the BCHL between the pipes for Salmon Arm in 2022-23.
- U18 player and QMJHL draft pick Luke Moran is headed to NE Prep and New Hampton this Fall.
Beyond those players several more Boston Hockey Academy U18 players have been courted by Junior Leagues and NE Prep Schools this Spring.
Individual Skill Development
While we are one team, Boston Hockey Academy is not a sports team. It is an academy where you can focus on your individual skills while still playing for your current team. At Boston Hockey Academy Powered by TPH, each student-athlete learns from certified teachers through customizable virtual platforms, with 24/7 access to virtual tutors. The on-site Director of Academics and Success Coach(es) are additional resources who cultivate an environment conducive to learning. This is one of the primary benefits of attending TPH Academy. Traditional systems are not conducive to the lifestyle of an aspiring, elite student-athlete. The academy understands the travel that sports require and the toll a season can take on a student-athlete. The beauty of the platform is the flexibility provided by operating virtually. Need a recovery day? Stay home! You can do your coursework from home, and our staff can send you a home workout. The academy believes its student-athletes get the most out of their experience by attending on-site, but understands that may not always be possible.

Mentorship and Personalized Support
The goal of the mentorship program is to educate student-athletes in “the process” of becoming elite. Boston Hockey Academy Powered by TPH is constantly assessing its students' needs and customizing their workload to best support their path to success. The academy requires its student-athletes to fill out daily surveys that help its staff understand the holistic state of the student-athletes. TPH Academy can provide support for IEP's and 504's. The centers are built with learning environments that help all types of learners and set up student-athletes for success.
