Understanding Bright Beginnings Tuition and Policies
Choosing the right childcare and early education program is a significant decision for families. Bright Beginnings aims to provide quality care and educational opportunities for children. This article provides an overview of Bright Beginnings' policies, tuition structure, and other essential information to help parents make informed choices.
Health and Safety Regulations
Bright Beginnings prioritizes the health and safety of all children in its care. To comply with state licensing requirements and ensure a healthy environment, the center has adopted specific regulations:
- Health Forms and Immunizations: A current, completed health form, updated yearly, is mandatory for each child. The Connecticut State Health Department mandates that these forms be signed by a doctor and include proof of immunization against chickenpox, polio, diphtheria, pertussis, tetanus, measles, mumps, rubella, and any other state-specified requirements.
- Illness Policy: To protect other children, a 24-hour policy is enforced. Children with a fever (above 100°F), vomiting, diarrhea, or pink eye with drainage during the night will not be admitted the following morning. If a child becomes ill during the day, parents will be notified to pick up the child promptly, and the child should not return the next day.
- Medication Administration: If a child requires medication during the school day (prescription or non-prescription), a Medication Authorization form must be signed by both the child's doctor and parent. All medications must be brought in their original container, labeled with the child's name. State law prohibits administering any unlabeled medication or medication without a doctor's order, including over-the-counter medications like Tylenol or Benadryl. Parents are welcome to administer medication at the school if needed.
- Allergy Awareness: Due to life-threatening allergies, no peanuts, tree nuts, or products containing nuts are allowed at the center.
- Food Storage: All lunch boxes must contain a freezer pack, regardless of the contents, as per State of Connecticut regulations. Bright Beginnings provides milk during lunch, as well as a morning and afternoon snack consisting of milk or juice, fresh fruit, and crackers. Sample menus are posted. Parents must provide special food if a child has specific dietary needs. Occasionally, parents may provide store-bought, nut-free snacks with labeled ingredients for birthdays and activities. Homemade items cannot be shared.
Tuition and Payment Policies
Understanding the tuition structure and payment policies is crucial for families enrolling their children at Bright Beginnings.
- Payment Methods: Bright Beginnings accepts payments via Bright Wheel for convenience.
- Due Dates and Late Fees: For Infant/Toddler, Full Day and Half Day Preschool, and the K.O.T.G. school age program, the entire month’s tuition is due in full on the 5th of each month and is non-refundable. Late payments incur a $40 late fee.
- Payment Processing Fees: Electronic bank payments have a processing fee of up to $0.60, and credit card payments have a processing fee of up to 2.9%.
- Suspension of Service: Accounts more than two weeks overdue are subject to suspension of service.
- Private Preschool Tuition: Private preschool tuition is based on the total number of days in the calendar year from September through June. Tuition is a yearly fee divided into ten non-refundable monthly payments. The June payment remains the same as all other months and is not affected by the program's last day.
- Registration Fee: A non-refundable $150.00 registration fee, covering supplies, books, and liability insurance, is required for all children.
- No Credits for Absences: Licensing and scheduling requirements prevent credits for holidays, vacations, sick days, necessary quarantine, inclement weather days, and/or natural disasters.
- Bright Beginnings NYC Tuition: Bright Beginnings NYC operates on a rolling admission basis with three trimesters and a summer session. Tuition payment options include monthly, trimester (with a 3% discount), or yearly (with a 5% discount). Full-time tuition includes daily breakfast, lunch, and an afternoon snack. The current part-time tuition for 2025 is $1579 per month. A $75 registration fee per family is due upon registration completion, with a $125 fee to hold an infant spot. A 10% discount is offered for lower-priced programs when enrolling two or more children.
- Bright Beginnings NYC Payment Due Dates and Late Fees: Fees are due on the 1st day of attendance each week. A late payment fee of $40.00 is charged for each week past due. Breakfast, lunch, and snack are included in the tuition unless otherwise indicated.
- Bright Beginnings NYC Late Pick-Up Fees: Children picked up after normal closing time are subject to a late fee of $25 for the first 15 minutes, then $15 every 15 minutes thereafter.
- Bright Beginnings NYC Absence Policy: No credits are given for sick days or missed scheduled time. The latest drop-off time is 9:00 AM to avoid disrupting the classroom schedule. VPK students must arrive by the program start time. Parents must notify the center by 8:30 AM if a child will be late or absent.
- Bright Beginnings NYC Holiday Closures: Tuition is still due for holidays and closed days. If any December holidays (Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, The Day After Christmas, New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day) fall on a weekend, the center will be closed the preceding Friday.
- Bright Beginnings NYC Deposit: To hold a child’s spot, a one-week deposit must be paid in full at registration, along with the $125 registration fee. This deposit and fee are non-refundable if the family decides not to enroll.
- Bright Beginnings NYC Potty Training Policy: Children aged three and older must be potty-trained before moving to or being placed in a classroom for that age group to receive the corresponding rate.
- Withdrawal Policy: Families are asked to provide at least two weeks' notice of their plans to withdraw their children.
Additional Policies and Programs
Bright Beginnings offers various programs and adheres to specific policies to ensure a positive experience for children and families.
- Discipline Policy: At no time will any child be subjected to physical or demeaning verbal punishment. Discipline will involve discussing the problem with the child. If necessary, the child may be temporarily separated from other children and activities.
- Right to Discontinue Service: Bright Beginnings retains the right to discontinue service to any family at its discretion. Reasons may include payment problems, parental issues, child behavior problems, or bringing sick children to the center.
- Open Door Policy: Parents are welcome to visit at any time during operating hours.
- Labeling Belongings: Children’s clothing and food items should be labeled.
- Late Pick-Up Policy: An additional charge of $1.00 per minute will be applied for each minute past the scheduled closing time, starting 15 minutes after closing. Parents are asked to call if they anticipate being late.
- Notification of Absence: Parents are requested to call or notify the center via Bright Wheel if a child will be absent due to illness, vacation, or a special visitor.
- Field Trips: Educational and fun field trips and outside events are planned throughout the year, and children in attendance are expected to participate.
- Potty Training Requirement: Children enrolled in all preschool programs, except for the infant/toddler program, must be potty trained by the start of school.
- Nap Time: Toddler and Preschool parents should provide a standard-sized crib sheet, blanket, and/or "lovey" for their child’s nap time.
- Bright Beginnings (Kent County): Serves families in Kent County with children from birth through kindergarten, offering home visits and playgroups in English, Spanish, and other languages. In 2024, educators traveled nearly 85,000 miles. These program services are free.
- Parents as Teachers Program: In 2024, Bright Beginnings completed the Parents as Teachers Quality Endorsement Improvement Process and earned Blue Ribbon Affiliate status. Parent Educators offer monthly or bi-monthly home visits with personalized information tailored to the family's needs, concerns, and goals. Home visits typically last one hour.
- Screenings and Playgroups: Bright Beginnings offers screenings for families through its home visiting program. Playgroups typically last one hour and may have themes. Pre-registration is only required if indicated on the calendar. Families must be enrolled in Bright Beginnings to attend playgroups.
- Cancellation Policy for Playgroups: If the local school district cancels school, the Bright Beginnings playgroup is also canceled and typically not rescheduled. School delays may affect playgroup scheduling.
- Car Seat Safety: Staff members are available to assist with car seat safety, installation, and education. Information can be requested through a provided form.
