College Football 25: Answering Your Burning Questions
Two weeks ago, after visiting EA Sports’ Orlando studio, the sheer volume of information about College Football 25 was overwhelming. The depth and breadth of the game warranted more than just one article. This article will answer many of your questions about the game before its launch in July. The team creating this game are die-hard college football fans who are trying to capture the unique feel of the sport.
Deluxe Edition vs. Standard Edition: Which is Right for You?
A common question, especially for those returning to the franchise after a long absence, revolves around the different editions of the game and what they offer. The primary benefits of the Deluxe Edition are early access and Ultimate Team bonuses. Pre-ordering the standard edition grants access on July 19th, along with Ultimate Team bonus packs. The Deluxe Edition, priced $30 higher, unlocks the game on July 16th, includes the same Ultimate Team bonus packs, and provides 4,600 Ultimate Team points.
If your focus is solely on Dynasty mode, the value of the Deluxe Edition hinges on whether early access is worth the extra cost.
Gameplay Mechanics and Features
Coin Toss
Unlike recent Madden iterations, College Football 25 includes a coin toss mechanic. However, similar to Madden, your preferred outcome (kicking or receiving if you win, taking the wind if you lose) can be pre-set in the game settings. Overtime will feature a manual coin toss where you make the decision.
Crossover with Madden
While you cannot export entire draft classes from Dynasty mode to Madden Franchise due to licensing restrictions, there is some crossover between the games. You can export your Road to Glory player to Madden’s Superstar mode. The limitation stems from EA's licensing agreements, which cover college player likenesses but not their professional counterparts. Although college players enter the NFL and EA Sports holds an NFLPA license, not every player joins the NFLPA.

Dynasty Mode
Cross-Platform Online Dynasty
Unfortunately, cross-platform online Dynasty mode will not be available in the initial release. While this may be disappointing for players with friends on different consoles, you can still play games against them and participate in Road to the College Football Playoff games. The hope is that cross-platform online Dynasty will be implemented in future iterations, similar to Madden.
Conference Realignment
The game will accurately reflect conference realignment. If a team changes conferences, the conference logo will update across the game, including stadium fields and jersey patches.
NIL in Dynasty Mode
There is no NIL (Name, Image, Likeness) in Dynasty Mode.
Road to Glory
High School Integration
The high school portion of Road to Glory has been removed. Instead, player creation is based on your choices at the startup.
Player Creation and Ratings
You can choose your player's star rating, which affects their overall rating, ranging from a two-star prospect (65 overall) to a five-star prospect (79 overall). You'll also select your position and archetype, with higher star levels granting more mental abilities. Based on your preferences, you'll receive offers from suitable schools.

Customization and Editing
Player Stats and Appearance
You cannot edit real player stats or body appearance due to NIL reasons.
Equipment
Whether you can edit the shoulder pads and equipment of real players is currently unknown.
Team Builder
Information on Team Builder is limited to the initial announcement. Whether you can use Team Builder to create FCS programs is unknown, but there may be licensing restrictions.
Microtransactions
Microtransactions will likely be present in Ultimate Team, as in Madden. However, if you prefer Dynasty and Road to Glory modes, you should be able to play without engaging in microtransactions.
All-Time Teams
All-Time Teams are not planned for College Football 25 due to the extensive licensing required for older players. However, Ultimate Team will feature college football legends as players.
