The Corriher-Linn-Black Library (CLB Library) at Catawba College serves as a dynamic hub for learning, research, and academic support. A Welcoming Space: Hours of Operation and Community Access

The CLB Library extends its services beyond the Catawba College community. During the academic school year, the library welcomes alumni and the public Monday through Friday, from 8 am to 5 pm. However, full services are reserved for those who have registered for library privileges.

Becoming a Community Borrower

Community members residing in Rowan, Cabarrus, Davidson, Davie, Iredell, or Stanly counties, who are at least sixteen years of age, can register as community borrowers. To register, simply bring a valid photo I.D. (driver’s license, passport, or government-issued I.D. card) that lists your current address to the Help Desk, located to the right upon entering the library. If your photo I.D. does not have your current address, an official document (utility bill, lease, bank statement, etc.) with proof of your current address is required.

Computer Access and Research Areas

To facilitate research and browsing, the library houses multiple computer stations on the main floor and Mezzanine. The bulk of the library's collection is located in the lower level, providing easy access to a wealth of printed materials.

Study Room Availability

The library features five study rooms, as well as multiple study nooks, available for use throughout the building. These spaces are available on a first-come, first-serve basis, except for the Writing Center and rooms reserved for study groups or other special requests.

Computer Access

The library houses 16 computers throughout the information commons and mezzanine areas for student use.

Laptop Lending Program

There are eight laptops available for checkout to Catawba students, but only one laptop can be checked out per patron. Laptops are loaned for a 48-hour period and cannot be renewed. Patrons must wait at least 24 hours between laptop checkouts. Once a laptop is due, a patron has four days to return it, after which the laptop is considered lost, and the patron will be charged replacement fees and overdue fines.

E-books

There are a variety of Ebook databases to search at Catawba College. You can also filter the Discovery Search to limit results to Ebooks as well.

Printing, Copying, and Scanning

Services include printing, copying, scanning, and use of portable chargers.

Course Reserves

Course instructors can place items (such as books and DVDs) on reserve at the library Help Desk. These items are meant for a specific class's use throughout the semester and are placed on a limited checkout period. Reserve items can be pulled from one of the library's collections or from an instructor's personal collection.

Interlibrary Loan
