The Ochsner Nurse Scholars Program provides financial support to nursing students pursuing different degrees:

Ochsner Nurse Scholars (BSN) recipients will receive $6,250 per eligible traditional semester (twice a year) throughout their nursing school journey, with a maximum total award of up to $37,500 during three years (or up to graduation, whichever comes first).
Ochsner Nurse Scholars (ADN/LPN) recipients will be granted $3,500 per eligible traditional semester (twice a year) for their nursing school studies, with a maximum total award of up to $14,000 during two years (or up to graduation, whichever comes first).

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

Actively enrolled in or accepted to an accredited nursing program in Louisiana or Mississippi and pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, an Associate Degree in Nursing, or Licensed Practical Nursing degree. University of West Alabama nursing students who are pursuing a BSN degree are eligible to apply.
Must meet the college/university's credit hour requirements to be considered Full-Time.
Must maintain good academic standing.

Upon successful graduation, Ochsner Nurse Scholars are expected to commit to serving at Ochsner Health for a period ranging from one to three years, depending on individual circumstances and agreements.

Loyola Students accepted into the Ochsner Nurse Scholars program may be eligible to receive extra funding from the Ochsner Academics Division. If you're in the Ochsner Nurse Scholar program and attending Loyola’s School of Nursing TBSN or ABSN program, you could get an extra $5,000 each semester (before taxes), up to a total of $30,000. This additional funding also requires agreement to the Ochsner Nurse Scholars Commitment Agreement.

The Heart of Healthcare Program, offered by Ochsner Health, supports new incoming students pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) at Chamberlain University College of Nursing, in New Orleans. This program provides a unique opportunity to receive financial support for nursing education while gaining valuable clinical experience at Ochsner Health, ultimately contributing to the healthcare community.

Ochsner Allied Health Scholars (Med Lab Tech, Rad Tech, Surg Tech, Respiratory Therapy) recipients will be granted $3,500 per eligible traditional semester (twice a year) for their studies, with a maximum total award of up to $14,000 during two years (or up to graduation, whichever comes first).

Furthermore, nursing students from the University of West Alabama are also eligible to apply.

Upon successful graduation, our scholars will seamlessly transition into full-time roles at Ochsner Health. Our scholars receive not only financial support but also access to a wealth of resources, including professional development opportunities, career coaching, and a range of services designed to provide unwavering support throughout their journey in school.

The eligibility criteria for applying to the Ochsner Scholars program are as follows:

The maximum support over three years is $37,500; however, you may not receive this full amount if you graduate before then. Additionally, BSN students in accelerated nursing programs will also receive a summer payout of $6,250 per summer, not to exceed the total maximum of $37,500.
ADN/LPN Recipients: Students pursuing an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) degree will be granted $3,500 per eligible traditional semesters (2x a year). The maximum support over two years is $14,000; however, you may not receive this full amount if you graduate before then.

In return for this financial assistance, award recipients will be invited to commit to a specified period of service with Ochsner Health upon their graduation. Ochsner Health, the largest employer in Louisiana and one of the nation's top-ranked hospitals, offers a unique opportunity for scholars to contribute to their healthcare community.

Financial assistance for Ochsner Allied Health Scholars are disbursed based on the specific nursing program a student is pursuing:

Rad Tech, Surg Tech, Med Lab Tech, Respiratory Therapy: Students pursuing a Radiology Technologist, Surgical Technologist, Medical Laboratory Technician, or Respiratory Therapy degree at an accredited institution in the state of Louisiana or Mississippi will be granted $3,500 per eligible traditional semesters (2x a year). The maximum support over two years is $14,000; however, you may not receive this full amount if you graduate before then.

In return for this financial assistance, award recipients will be invited to commit to a specified period of service with Ochsner Health upon their graduation. Scholars who opt to discontinue their involvement in the program will be responsible for repaying the entire financial assistance amount they received during their time as an Ochsner Scholar.

Transferring Credits to Chamberlain University

Transfer Credit Guidelines

A grade of B- or higher is required for all science and nursing program transfer credits (pre-licensure only).
As an RN with an associate degree or diploma in nursing, and a current, active, unrestricted RN license, you will be awarded 77 proficiency credits for your previous educational experience.
Chamberlain’s RN to BSN option has a residency requirement of at least 30 credit hours.

Transfer Limits
