Codey Arena is deeply connected to the world of synchronized skating. Synchronized skating, a fifty-year old sport that began in the United States, joins the men’s ladies, pairs, and ice dance competitions as the fourth discipline. The sport of Synchronized skating is attracting fans due to its speed, artistry, and the excitement of 8-20 skaters on the ice competing in a team sport. Synchronized skaters are increasingly recognized as the most versatile of competitive skater-athletes as they perform elements from singles, pairs, and ice dance. It uses the same judging system as singles, pairs, and dance and is characterized by teamwork, speed, intricate formations, and challenging step sequences. As with other disciplines, all teams perform a free skate with required well-balanced program elements.

The Skyliners Synchronized Skating Team

The Skyliners Synchronized Skating Team, a prominent force in the synchronized skating world, exemplifies this dedication. The team represents the Skating Club of New York in NYC, the Skating Club of Fairfield County in Connecticut, and the Essex Skating Club in New Jersey. Established in 2001, the Skyliners have risen to become one of the top synchronized skating clubs in the country. Over the last nineteen seasons, Skyliners has grown to be one of the top synchronized skating clubs in the country, winning 16 National Championships, 33 Eastern Championships, and back-to-back Silver and Bronze medals at Junior Worlds in 2018 and 2019, the first worlds medals ever for Team USA Junior. This season, Skyliners is fielding 14 competitive lines with more than 240 skaters ranging in age from 5 to 24. While the majority of the skaters reside in the tri-state area, they also have skaters from Illinois, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Wisconsin. Skyliners train at various rinks throughout the tri-state region. Each season, Skyliners participates in numerous competitions throughout the world. Since 2004, every one of their qualifying lines has earned a spot to the National Championships. Both their Junior and Senior lines are designated Team USA, and represent the United States at international events. In the 2018-19 season, the Junior line captured Silver medals at the Cup of Berlin and the French Cup, 1st place in the United States and 3rd in the World in Neuchatel, Switzerland.

Skyliners is often featured at special exhibitions and ice shows. In past seasons, the team performed in Holiday on the Hudson, the tree lighting at Riverbank State Park, the Ice Theatre of New York Annual Gala, Bryant Park, the Rye FSC 80th Anniversary Gala, half-time at regional hockey games, as well as local learn to skate exhibitions. Skyliners have also been invited to perform on televised productions such as the Today Show, Good Morning America, The Rachael Ray Show, even as models during Fashion Week at Wollman Rink. The team gives back to the community with its involvement in charity fundraisers throughout the region and the annual Pajama Drive.

The arena has space for up to 3 parties at a time and each space can accommodate up to 50 guests. To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience at Codey Arena, it's important to be aware of a few key details. The arena does not provide helmets or gloves, however we recommend safety equipment while skating and we suggest the use of these items. Rental skates are provided at a cost of $5. All skaters and guests are advised to wear warm light clothing if possible.
