While there are many available kits out there, you can actually master much of the needed techniques with the basic 25 piece kit that Wilton offers. In this kit are tips 3, 16, 32, 104 and 352. There are also four jars of color gels, a flower nail, two couplers and 12 decorating bags. With the addition of three more tips (#4 round, #12 round, and #64 basket weave), a few more decorating bags, and two more couplers, you'll have yourself an excellent basic tool kit. In addition you will need to bring toothpicks, flat-edged knife or spatula, knife for filling decorating bags, spatula for mixing colors, damp wash rag, Ziploc bags (to bring soiled items home in), tightly covered containers for frosting, cake carrier to bring your designs home in, and of course your cake and frosting.
