Core Requirements for the B.S. in Computer Science

The B.S. in Computer Science requires 120 credit hours, including general education classes, common program prerequisites, basic and advanced core classes, restricted electives and a discipline-specific and capstone design courses. There are no additional requirements for admission into the program beyond admission to UCF.

The Computer Science Foundation Exam (CSFE)

All computer science majors must pass the Computer Science Foundation Exam in order to advance to upper-level coursework. Nationally, only UCF’s computer science program uses a test this way to qualify its students. The exam covers problem solving techniques, algorithms, abstraction, proofs and language skills. Tests are held each semester, and the exam helps ensure the success of our students.

Accelerated BS to MS Program in Cyber Security and Privacy

Qualified students may apply for the accelerated track upon completion of 64 credit hours. The Accelerated BS in Computer Science to MS program in Cyber Security and Privacy (Technical Track only) allows highly qualified UCF undergraduate majors in Computer Science (CS) to take graduate-level courses that will count toward their MS degree while completing their BS degree program. Up to nine (9) credit hours of 5000- and 6000-level courses with a grade of "B" (3.0) or better may be counted toward the accelerated BS to MS program. Two additional requirements for the students in this program are: Students must earn at least a "B" (3.0) in each undergraduate- or graduate-level course counted for the program. Students must opt for this program no later than the beginning of their junior year.
