Understanding Cuyahoga Community College Tuition Costs and Financial Aid
Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C) offers a wide array of educational opportunities, from credit courses to workforce training, and community programs for adults and youth. Understanding the cost of attendance and available financial aid options is crucial for prospective students. This article breaks down the tuition costs, fees, and financial aid resources available at Tri-C.
Tuition and Fees Structure
Tuition and fees at Tri-C vary depending on residency status. For the 2020-2021 academic year, in-district tuition and fees were $3,586. In-state tuition and fees were $4,472, while out-of-state tuition and fees were $8,586. It is important to note that these figures are subject to change.
Institutional Fee
An institutional fee is automatically applied each semester at the time of registration. This fee provides students with unlimited access to all campuses, recreation facilities, Technology Learning Centers, libraries, e-learning resources, and campus special events. The amount of the fee is based on the number of credit hours for which a student is charged. Fees will be adjusted when courses are added or dropped in accordance with the withdraw and refund deadlines. Students are responsible for withdrawing from courses they choose not to attend or complete for any reason.
Payment Options
Tri-C offers multiple payment options for tuition and fees:
- Check or Money Order: Payments can be made via check or money order. However, a non-refundable $30 returned check fee may be applied if a payment is returned from the bank.
- Credit Card: Payments can be made using MasterCard, Visa, American Express, or Discover at any campus kiosk or student workstation, or online via my Tri-C space. A 2.25% service fee applies to all credit and debit card payments. To avoid this fee, payments can be made by cash, check, or EFT.
- Installment Payment Plan: Changes made to a student's account may result in the installment payment plan being rebalanced and future payments adjusted. Modifications to the method of payment within two days of the payment plan due date may result in the original payment method being used.
Cost of Attendance (COA)
Federal laws require colleges to establish a Cost of Attendance (COA) for students receiving financial aid. This COA helps students plan for their educational expenses and helps schools determine financial aid eligibility. All COA components are estimated based on full-time enrollment (at least 12 credit hours per semester). Students enrolled with less than half-time status (1 to 5 credit hours) will have living and personal expenses removed from their COA budget. Tri-C uses average cost figures when determining eligibility for financial aid.
