Dallas College must comply with federal law when enrolling international students, as guided by the US Department of Homeland Security via the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP). Here are some key requirements:
English Proficiency: Demonstrate English proficiency by providing one of the following:
- TOEFL score of 71 or higher on the internet-based version.
- IELTS overall score of 6.0 or higher.
- Duolingo English Test score of 105 or higher.
- ACCUPLACER ESL Placement test.

Academic Standing: Have an OFFICIAL transcript on file from the current SEVP-certified school with an established grade point average (GPA) and/or proof of first session completion. Official transcripts with in-progress grades for the current term may be submitted if an established grade point average is included. If you are in progress of your first semester at the current school, you may be unable to satisfy this admission requirement by the application deadline.Follow your institution’s (high school or secondary education institution) transcript request process to directly submit your official transcript(s) to Dallas College.

After official acceptance, all international students must attend an F-1 information session.
- Embassy/Consulate Appointment: Make an appointment at your embassy or consulate. Contact the embassy/consulate for instructions on what to expect.
- Tuition Payment: Once tuition is paid or a payment plan is set up, a student success coach will review the student record for full-time enrollment.
- Deadlines: It is crucial to adhere to the deadlines provided on your acceptance letter and I-20.

- Health Insurance: Dallas College strongly recommends that international students obtain health insurance for the duration of their studies.
- Non-Credit Programs: Dallas College presently has no active non-credit Vocational or Technical Education (M-1) programs in which international students may be admitted.
- Change of Status: Change of Status students should report to a Designated School Official as soon as possible upon receipt of the approval or denial of the I-769 application.
