According to rankings, several Texas institutions stand out for their D2 women's softball programs:

  1. St. Mary’s University: St. Mary’s University was named the best school for D2 Women’s Softball athletes in Texas. In addition to its great ranking here. The D2 Women’s Softball team brought in $609,487 while tallying up $606,672 in expenses.
  2. Saint Edward’s University: Saint Edward’s University also claimed a spot on our overall quality list. It ranked #2 on our Best Colleges for D2 Women’s Softball athletes in Texas list. Austin, Texas is the setting for this small institution of higher learning. On the financial side of things, the D2 Women’s Softball team at St. Edward’s University brought home $0 in revenue.
  3. West Texas A&M University: You’ll join some of the best athletes around if you attend West Texas A&M University. The school came in at #3 in this year’s ranking. West Texas A&M University is located in Canyon, Texas and, has a medium-sized student population.
  4. Angelo State University: A rank of #4 on our list means Angelo State University is a great place for D2 Women’s Softball athletes in Texas working on their bachelor’s degree. Angelo State is a public institution located in San Angelo, Texas.
  5. Texas Woman’s University: You’ll join some of the best athletes around if you attend Texas Woman’s University. The school came in at #5 in this year’s ranking.
  6. Tarleton State University: Tarleton State University did quite well in the Best Colleges for Division II Women’s Softball in Texas ranking, coming in at #6. The D2 Women’s Softball team at Tarleton made $757,013 in revenue, while incurring $740,407 in expenses.
  7. Texas A&M University - Commerce: With a ranking of #7, Texas A&M University - Commerce did quite well on the Best Colleges for Division II Women’s Softball in Texas ranking.
  8. MSU Texas: MSU Texas ranked #8 on this year’s Best Colleges for Division II Women’s Softball in Texas list. MSU Texas is a medium-sized public school situated in Wichita Falls, Texas.
  9. Texas A&M University - Kingsville: Texas A&M University - Kingsville ranked #9 on this year’s Best Colleges for Division II Women’s Softball in Texas list.

NCAA Division II Softball National Championship

In 2024, UT Tyler claimed the NCAA Division II Softball National Championship title with an electric 10-1 victory over No. 13 Western Washington. It was the Patriot's second title in program history, previously claiming the coveted hardware back in 2016.

Where to Watch College Softball

FloCollege and FloSoftball are key platforms for watching college softball, offering exclusive streaming rights to various conferences and multi-team events (MTEs).

What Kinds Of College Softball Can I Watch On FloCollege?

FloCollege will be one of the leading carriers of college softball throughout the season, with the platform holding exclusive streaming rights to both the BIG EAST Conference and Coastal Athletic Association softball seasons as well as multiple high-level multi-team events (MTEs) throughout nonconference play in February.

MTEs to be streamed exclusively on FloCollege include Arizona’s Bear Down Fiesta, Candrea Classic, and Hillenbrand Invitational, Florida Atlantic’s Joan Joyce Classic, and Paradise Classic, the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic, the Puerto Vallarta College Challenge, the Rocket City Softball Showcase and UNC Greensboro’s Spiro Classic, UNCG Invitational and UNCG Weekend Invitationals.

Texas, Oklahoma State, UCLA, and Tennessee are among the many elite-level college softball programs that will play games on FloCollege-streamed MTEs this season, with access to hundreds of other games and countless hours of original content and replays available with a FloCollege subscription, as well.
