This article explores the diverse services offered by ECU, highlighting their benefits and how members can leverage them for their financial advantage.
Convenient Banking Services
ECU understands the importance of convenient access to funds and offers several services to make banking easier for its members.

Direct deposit is a safe, easy, and convenient way to access funds immediately. To set it up, members need their account number and the Educators Credit Union routing number - 311989852. Funds can be deposited into a savings account, checking account, or both.
Drive-Thru Services
At all of its branches, ECU provides drive-thru lanes where members can conduct their transactions quickly and efficiently.

License Tags
ECU has partnered with TxDOT to offer license tags to members. If a vehicle is registered in McLennan County, members can get their license tags at the Main Office in Waco. ECU can print tags for all vehicles, including motorcycles, RVs, boats, and most trailers. Members need to bring their license tag renewal notice, proof of insurance, proof of inspection, and their ID. Note that ECU cannot issue past due tags on the last business day of the month.
ATM Access and Precautions
Due to an increase in ATM scams, all out-of-state ATM transactions have been blocked on Educators Credit Union ATM cards. Members traveling out of state who need to use their ATM card should contact the credit union at 254-776-7900. ECU also advises members to take precautions when using ATMs:
- Always save receipts.
- Protect the secrecy of your Personal Identification Number (PIN).
- Be aware of your surroundings.
- Look out for suspicious activity near the ATM facility.
- At night, be sure the facility is well-lit.
- Consider having someone accompany you.
- At a drive-up facility, make sure all the car doors are locked and all the windows are up, except the driver’s window.

Pre-Paid VISA® Gift Cards
ECU offers Pre-Paid VISA® gift cards, available in increments from $10.00 to $1,000.00, with a $3.00 fee per card. Gift cards can be purchased at all branch locations from any lobby teller. They make great gifts or can be used as an alternative to travelers' checks.
Wire Transfers
When money must be sent at a specific time and place, ECU’s wire transfer services are available for both domestic and international financial institutions. Funds can also be wired into an ECU account with no fee for incoming wires. For incoming wires, members should follow the instructions for the Federal Reserve Bank. All outgoing wires must be done in person, and members should furnish complete wiring instructions in writing, allowing time for verification of funds and processing to ensure the transaction can be completed on time.
Loan and Financing Options
ECU provides a variety of loan and financing options to meet members' diverse needs.
Auto Loans
ECU offers competitive auto loan rates for both new and used vehicles. The Annual Percentage Rate (APR) and payments are based on the loan term, credit score, and credit tiers. To qualify for the lowest rate, a credit score of 670 or above is typically required. Rates are subject to change. As low as rates are based on a credit score of 740+, a loan-to-value less than 80% and include discounts for at least two of the following services: ECU direct deposit, GAP insurance, Mechanical breakdown insurance, credit life/disability insurance or an insurance policy through Educators Insurance Services. A payment example is $41.75 per $1,000 financed at 3.99% for 25 months. Other rates and terms are available, excluding existing ECU loans and Indirect loans, and certain restrictions apply.
Mortgage Loans
ECU provides mortgage loans to help members purchase or refinance their homes. Rates are subject to change and are not guaranteed until a formal lock is processed. Property insurance is required on all mortgages, and closing costs are approximately $1,600. Payments do not include amounts for taxes and insurance premiums, and the actual payment obligation will be greater. Interest on a home that is greater than the fair market value of the home is not tax-deductible for federal income tax purposes.
