Eastern Michigan University (EMU) offers a range of scholarships and financial aid programs designed to make college accessible and affordable. Among these, the Emerald Eagle Scholarship stands out as a key opportunity for incoming freshmen. This article will provide a comprehensive overview of the Emerald Eagle Scholarship, its requirements, and other financial aid options available at EMU.
Emerald Scholarship: Rewarding Academic Achievement
Eastern Michigan University believes in recognizing and rewarding academic achievement. That’s why all admitted students are automatically considered for the Emerald Scholarship - no separate application is required. The Emerald Scholarship is automatically awarded to admitted students based on academic merit, specifically GPA and, for some awards beginning Fall 2026, standardized test scores. It is a renewable scholarship, offering continued support throughout a student's academic career at EMU, provided certain criteria are met.
Eligibility and Renewal Requirements
To be eligible for the Emerald Scholarship, students must demonstrate academic excellence through their high school GPA. The specific GPA requirements may vary, and beginning Fall 2026, some award amounts will also require a test score.
To maintain the Emerald Scholarship, students must:
- Maintain full-time enrollment (at least 12 credits per semester).
- Maintain a cumulative EMU GPA of 2.75 or higher.
- Maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress at Eastern Michigan University.
- Renewable for three additional consecutive years
Please note: Scholarship awards are contingent upon verification of admission criteria via official transcripts or test scores (if applicable), as well as receipt of a high school diploma or equivalent.
