Visa Requirements

Visa requirements for traveling to England depend on nationality and purpose. Many countries, including the US, Canada, and EU members, don’t need visas for short visits (usually up to 6 months) for tourism or business. Many of our international interns headed to England require a GAE visa. While we do not sponsor these visas, we partner with JENZA to help facilitate applications for them.

Safety and Financial Considerations

England is considered safe for travel. Standard safety precautions apply, like in any destination. Internships in England facilitated by World Endeavors are typically unpaid. This is due to visa regulations and the sponsorship requirements for host companies, which make paid internships abroad rare. In terms of Financial Aid, we often require our travelers to earn credit for their internship in order to be eligible to utilize any financial aid.

Application Process

Applying for a fashion internship in London typically involves the following steps:

  1. Research and Compare: Explore different internship programs and opportunities.
  2. Start an Education Abroad Application: Complete the internal application process through your university, if applicable.
  3. Guest Application (If applicable): If you are a student at another university, apply for admission to Kent State University as a “Guest Student”.
  4. Wait for Acceptance: Applications are evaluated on a rolling basis.
  5. Complete the host university application: Once your Education Abroad application has been accepted, you will be nominated to the host university.
  6. Attend an Interview: Attend your 20-30 minute interview to discuss your studies, qualifications, and preferred internship details.

Eligibility and Timeline

Applicants must be at least 18 years old and possess a passport valid for at least six months beyond the program’s start date. While prior experience or academic background in your chosen field is recommended, it’s not mandatory; relevant coursework or experience can enhance your placement options. It’s advisable to apply for internships in England at least 16 weeks before your intended start date. This timeframe allows for necessary visa processing, placement coordination, and travel arrangements. Applications are accepted up to a year in advance, and early submission is encouraged due to limited placement availability.

Have you considered completing a remote fashion internship from the comfort of your own home? Overcoming Challenges: COVID-19 and Remote Work

In an effort to contain and limit the spread of the COVID-19 virus, the British Government has recommended that all UK businesses transition to working remotely where possible. This decision follows on from similar decisions made in Spain, Italy, France, and the US, and has significantly affected the delivery of our Spring 2020 international internship programs.
