Fleet Reserve Association Scholarship: A Comprehensive Guide
The Fleet Reserve Association (FRA) recognizes the importance of education for service members, veterans, and their families, believing it crucial for their futures and the nation's. Beyond advocating for enhanced Department of Defense (DoD) and Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) education benefits, the FRA Education Foundation actively supports individuals pursuing higher education through a generous scholarship program. This program awards up to $5,000 to deserving students working towards college and graduate degrees. The Foundation distributes approximately $100,000 annually, selecting recipients based on financial need, academic standing, character, and leadership qualities.

Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for FRA Education Foundation Scholarships, applicants must be affiliated with the U.S. Navy (USN), U.S. Marine Corps (USMC), or U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) through their own service or that of a spouse, parent, grandparent, or great-grandparent. FRA members in good standing, including their spouses, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, qualify for a broader range of FRA Member Scholarships. Applicants must be U.S. citizens and full-time students at an accredited college or university within the United States.
Some scholarships have broad eligibility criteria, while others are more specific.
Specific eligibility requirements
FRA Member Scholarships: Available to members in good standing, their spouses, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Dependents of FRA members: Dependents of FRA members in good standing are eligible for a wider range of scholarships.
Service Affiliation: Affiliated with the USN, USMC, or USCG through their own service or that of their spouse, parent, grandparent, or great-grandparent.
Citizenship and Enrollment: Applicants must be U.S. citizens and be full-time students at an accredited college and university in the United States.
Other Scholarships and Grants: Applicants must not have received or will not be receiving scholarships, awards, or grants that fully pay tuition for the Fall 2025 semester.

Glenn F., Robert W., Joseph R., MCPO Ken E. Robert. M., Stanley A. Scholarships: Preference is given to applicants enrolled in courses of study at the post-graduate level.

Scholarship for Children of Navy Medical Personnel: The FRA Education Foundation offers a special scholarship for unmarried, dependent children of past and present enlisted Navy medical personnel who have served with the Marine Corps.
The Walter E. Beall Scholarships These scholarships are derived from the estate of Past Regional President Southeast Walter Beall and are for students who aspire to further their education in aeronautical engineering or pursue aviation-oriented degrees. Applications for the Walter E. Beall Scholarships are available by writing to: Walter E. Beall Scholarship, 925 Carlton Blvd. Staten Island NY 10312, Attn: James E Brown. Applications for the Beall Scholarship must be sent to the above address and be postmarked no later than 15 April.
The Ladies Auxiliary of the Fleet Reserve Association (LA FRA) also sponsors an annual scholarship program.
The Benn Scholarship was established by Benn's estate to honor the memory of one of the first active-duty female Marines selected for the permanent rank of colonel. Benn led the Educational Services Branch of the Marine Corps and worked tirelessly to increase the potential for Marine Corps personnel to pursue college degrees.
Preference for Education and STEM Courses: Preference given to applicants enrolled in courses of study in Education and/or STEM courses.

Application Process
The FRA Education Foundation makes scholarship applications available from September 1st through April 15th each year. All applications and supporting documents must be postmarked no later than April 15th. Applications and documents postmarked later than April 15th will not be considered. Applications that are incomplete in any way will not be considered. All eligible applicants will be considered for any scholarship for which they meet the eligibility requirement (based on the desires of the donor). FRA only notifies the applicants who have been selected to receive a scholarship.
Required Documents
Extracurricular Activities and Awards: On a separate sheet of paper, applicants must list their extracurricular school and community activities, and awards. If they have no extracurricular activities or awards, they must insert a page stating that.
Recommendations: All applicants must submit two recommendations, one academic and one community.
SAT/ACT Scores: Students may provide their SAT/ACT scores, if applicable.
