Dr. Kar is proud to serve students as an Ethnic Studies tenure-track faculty member after working at Fullerton College for several years. As a second-generation South Asian American of Sindhi and Bengali ancestry, Dr. Kar brings a unique perspective and deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities faced by APIDA students.
Dr. Kar's academic background is extensive, holding a B.A. in Literatures of the World from UC San Diego. Furthering their education, Dr. Kar earned an M.A. in Comparative Literature and a Ph.D. in Comparative Literature from UC Santa Barbara. Their doctoral work included emphases in Feminist Studies and Asian American Studies, demonstrating a commitment to intersectional and inclusive scholarship. Dr. Kar's leadership and expertise are invaluable to the APIDA Amplified program, guiding its vision and ensuring its effectiveness in supporting students.
Rachel: APIDA Amplified Program Director
Rachel serves as the APIDA Amplified Program Director, bringing a wealth of experience in mental health and student support. Rachel earned their Master’s in Social Work from CSU Long Beach, their Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Psychological Sciences from UC Irvine, and their Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from UC Santa Barbara. Their diverse educational background provides a unique blend of technical knowledge and social work expertise, enabling them to approach student support with a holistic perspective.
Rachel previously served as a Mental Health Clinician and a Master’s in Social Work Intern at Long Beach City College. This experience has equipped them with the skills and knowledge necessary to support the wellness of diverse and vibrant college student populations. In their current role, Rachel is dedicated to creating a supportive and inclusive environment for APIDA students, addressing their unique needs and promoting their overall well-being.

Camille: Advocate and Communications Specialist
Camille brings a strong background in advocacy and communications to the APIDA Amplified Team. As a woman of color with experience working in advocacy nonprofits and political campaigns, she understands the importance of effective communication and community engagement. During the 2022 election, Camille assisted in social media for Beto O’Rourke and digital fundraising for Lina Hidalgo, demonstrating her skills in digital strategy and outreach.
Camille's connection to Fullerton College runs deep, having attended the institution before transferring to UCLA with a full scholarship. In 2025, Camille earned her Master’s in Communication at Johns Hopkins University, further honing her expertise in strategic communication and public relations. Camille's role within the APIDA Amplified Team likely involves promoting the program's initiatives, connecting with students, and advocating for their needs within the college community.
