The Florida Department of Education gave the City of Hialeah Educational Academy a grant to build a new two-story building with eight classrooms, outside stairs, and modern facilities. The school is also getting a Career and Technical Education (CTE) Hall, which will make it easier for students to learn and take pressure off of park facilities.
College Preparation and Advanced Placement
City of Hialeah Educational Academy prepares students for college through a comprehensive curriculum and various opportunities for advanced coursework. Students have the opportunity to take Advanced Placement® course work and exams. The AP® participation rate at City of Hialeah Education Academy is 75 percent. In 2025-2026 school year, 42% of students met math standards and 56% met reading/ELA standards. The school offers 8 Dual Enrollment courses through partnerships with Miami-Dade College, Doral College, and Florida International University.

Extracurricular Activities and Programs
The academy focuses on individualized learning and academic growth in a supportive, goal-oriented setting. Students do things outside of school that help them become leaders, be creative, and work well with others.
The YLC- Orange 21st CCLC program is operational Monday though Friday and follows the Miami-Dade County Public Schools calendar. All sites are conveniently located within the City of Hialeah.
The YLC program is designed for teens who are in need of quality after school/ care with a strong educational focus.

Summer Camp Program
The YLC Summer Camp will be held at City of Hialeah Educational Academy. Summer Camp will be open Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM-6:30 PM beginning June 8, 2026 through August 12, 2026. Sites will be closed on Friday, July 3rd, 2026 in observance of Independence day. Summer Program is FREE due to the Nita M. Lowey 21st CCLC grant. Summer Camp participants must be enrolled or incoming students from our 3 Partner Schools listed above or from Private Schools in the Hialeah Area.
Summer Activities Include: Academic activities with Certified Teachers in Literacy, Math, and Science, Enrichment activities such as Nutrition/Cooking classes, STEM classes, Music Program including Piano and Guitar, Dance classes, Swim and Guard Start Classes, Indoor/ Outdoor Activities though SPARK Fitness.

YLC Family Member Services
Activities for parents and guardians are also an integral part of the YLC program. At the YLC, parents and guardians are encouraged to continue learning through workshops and classes offered. Workshops and training through the Parent Academy Resources. Free ESL classes for parents or guardians whose teen is enrolled in the YLC program. Parents can participate in either classes offered through the Hialeah Public Libraries, or at one of our sites in a class setting with the Special Programs Instructor.
Support Services
The academy provides tutoring, counseling, and mentoring to help students reach their academic and personal goals. Program accommodations include a Master Inclusion Teacher, a behavioral analyst consultant for individual cases as needed, as well as daily inclusion aides and trained staff on-site to apply behavior modification techniques for children with behavior challenges and educational strategies for those who have learning difficulties and attention deficits. Inclusion support at sites is offered if needed and after-school staff-to-child ratios are 1:15.

Graduation and Post-Secondary Success
The school projects over a 97% at-risk graduation rate. The graduation rate is 100%, well above the state median. Seniors enrolled in the Fire Academy graduate with CPR, First Responder and Emergency Vehicle Operator Certifications and the students in the Criminal Justice Academy graduate with Public Service Aid Certification. The students will receive exposure to a career field of their choice, while benefitting from a vocational or college-prep curriculum whereby as graduates they will be prepared to compete in and contribute to a global economy. Students receive career counseling and guidance as they progress through the year to allow their high school course to be tailored to suit their intended career pathways.
