Early Childhood Programs
Lakeville Area Schools recognizes the importance of early childhood education and provides numerous learning opportunities for families with young children. These programs lay a strong foundation for future academic success and social-emotional development. Wonder Zone, a child care program for preschool children aged 3 to 6 years, offers a nurturing and stimulating environment for young learners.
Before and After School Care: Kid Zone
For families with school-aged children, Lakeville Community Education offers Kid Zone, a program that provides safe, high-quality before and after school care. This program ensures that children have a supportive and engaging environment outside of school hours, allowing parents to have peace of mind knowing their children are well-cared for.
Classical Indian Dance: Bharatanatyam and Kathak
Lakeville Community Education is partnering with local dance instructors to offer Bharatanatyam and Kathak classical dance courses for all ages. These ancient classical dance forms come from India and are known for their detailed hand gestures, called mudras, disciplined footwork, and facial expressions. These classes are open to all students in the community, and all are welcome to join!
Bharatanatyam Dance: A Journey of Tradition, Grace, and Rhythm
Bharatanatyam is a classical Indian dance form that seamlessly blends storytelling, expression, rhythm, and devotion. Through engaging lessons, participants will explore foundational postures and basic hand gestures, learn rhythmic footwork and its coordination with rhythm, and understand the role of expressions in conveying emotions and narratives. Aspirants grow into an individual artist with confidence and body conditioning to appreciate the aesthetics and pursue any dance form! Whether you are a beginner or a dance enthusiast, this class will guide you through the basics while cultivating an appreciation for one of India’s most revered art forms. Kathak Dance: Storytelling Through Movement
Kathak is a classical storytelling dance of India. Using graceful movements, meaningful hand gestures, facial expressions, intricate footwork, multiple spins, and music, students will learn how to tell a story!
Bharatanatyam & Kathak Dances will encourage students to work on focus, self development, positivity and confidence. These two dance forms are derived from spiritual practices, but are being taught only as cultural and classical dance art form through this program.
