- Storage of hazardous materials: All matches, lighters, medicines, drugs, cleaning materials, detergents, aerosol cans, and other poisonous or toxic materials are stored in their original containers and used in a manner that prevents contamination of play surfaces, food preparation areas, or any hazard to children.
- Appropriate use of electronic media: If television or other electronic visual media is used, it must be part of a planned, developmentally appropriate program with educational, social, physical, or other learning objectives that include identified goals. The media must be turned off during sleeping and nap times.
- Staff training: Each director, teacher, and volunteer must complete Office-approved training that complies with federal minimum health and safety pre-service or three-month orientation period requirements. Staff members and volunteers are required to complete a minimum of thirty (30) hours of training every two years.
- Health care plan: The licensee must prepare and maintain a health care plan on forms furnished by the Office. This plan must protect and promote the health of children, be readily available on-site, and followed by all staff. It must also be accessible to parents upon request.
- Medication administration: For medication that needs to be given on an ongoing, long-term basis, authorization and consent forms for children under the age of 5 years of age must be reauthorized at least once every six months.
