Learning Garden Academy offers a comprehensive curriculum designed to foster the cognitive, emotional, social, and physical development of children from six weeks through pre-kindergarten. With a focus on creating a safe, fun, and eco-friendly environment, the academy provides top-quality child care that prepares students for future academic success. Now enrolling for Fall 2025, Learning Garden Academy welcomes students and families to its center-based early child care and education facility.

A Foundation for Future Learning

The Learning Garden’s developmentally appropriate curriculum provides a solid foundation towards developing your child’s full academic potential. The academy resembles the best of what students will get in the years ahead in structured schooling while maintaining the close community and relationships that’re instrumental in early childhood development. Attending a center benefits students as students will spend their days in a structured, stable environment that hones spatial, vocabulary and other skills with enriching curriculums and activities. With a full-time schedule, Learning Garden Academy also can provide the care that Philadelphia parents need. Full-time means that students get the best of repeated daily instruction with non-family adults and peers of similar ages. Students will see their development and learning skills grow quickly in an environment that’ll set them up well for the years ahead! Parents get the benefit, too, of enrolling their children in a learning community all the while having the large time blocks to spend at work or on other responsibilities.

STEAM-Based Curriculum and Outdoor Activities

Learning Garden Academy utilizes an age-appropriate STEAM-based curriculum, integrating science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics into daily activities. This approach encourages critical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity from a young age. In addition to classroom learning, the academy emphasizes outdoor activities, providing students with opportunities for gross motor play and exploration of the natural world.

Programs for Every Age

Learning Garden Academy's daycare centers are full-time, year-round facilities that provide care for children from six weeks through pre-K. Program offerings include:

  • Infant Care (6 weeks and up): A nurturing environment focused on sensory exploration and early development.
  • Toddler Programs: Activities designed to promote language development, social skills, and independence.
  • Preschool Programs: A curriculum that introduces foundational academic concepts through play-based learning.
  • Pre-Kindergarten Programs: Activities that build on newly acquired skill sets. Pre Kindergarten and Jr. Four and five year olds have a deeper thirst for the world around them. A deeper dive into literacy, math, and science, preparing children for kindergarten.

Arts-Based Curriculum

Learning Garden Academy offers an arts-based curriculum emphasizing the creation process to help develop creative, artistic, motor and cognitive skills for students. Arts-based schools like Learning Garden Academy value the artistic process over the end product, giving students a wide variety of mediums and techniques to explore and later admire their creations.

Parent and Caregiver Engagement

The Learning Garden classes provide an opportunity for parents, grandparents, or other caregivers to engage together with their child in meaningful, age-appropriate activities in a supportive, play-based environment. Activities include music and movement, pretend play, sensory exploration, learning centers, gross motor outdoor play, arts and crafts, and circle time. These activities are carefully designed to support every aspect of a child's growth, including cognitive, emotional, social, and physical development, while also providing parents and caregivers with valuable tools and insights to help guide their child's learning journey. Adults have the opportunity to share experiences, ask questions, and exchange ideas in a welcoming, nonjudgmental environment.

The academy also offers a 3-Day Program where a parent attends one day a week, and the child attends three days a week. Parents participate with the child in a preschool environment and discuss child development, discipline, eating, toilet learning, sleeping and additional areas of interest. The classes are filled with opportunities for children to build self-esteem, make decisions, problem solve, develop fine and gross motor skills, and to practice language and social skills. These programs allow the parent and child to develop independence and competence through social interaction with other families. Parent discussion topics include application of child developmental theory, discipline techniques, self-esteem and the challenges of parenting. The classes are filled with opportunities for children to build self-esteem, make decisions, problem solve, develop fine and gross motor skills, and to practice language and social skills.

A Nurturing Environment

As a school for little explorers, we are committed to creating a safe and nurturing environment. Every class is taught with an abundance of warmth, encouraging our students to follow their creative endeavors and curiosity. For many of our students, we are their very first steps into school. With this in mind, we strive to give our students an experience that will make them love and value learning in their everyday lives. Our friendly classrooms help children develop community awareness through role models, good manners, and the strength of their friendships. We go beyond teaching the basics of colors, numbers, letters and shapes to introduce well rounded learning experiences and healthy social skills.
