Arthur L. Williams Stadium: Home of the Liberty Flames
Arthur L. Williams Stadium, often called "The Bill," is a prominent football stadium located on the campus of Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia, United States. This 25,000-seat stadium is the home of the Liberty Flames football team, an NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) program.
History
Built in 1989, the stadium was later named in 1994 to honor Arthur L. Williams. Since its construction, Arthur L. Williams Stadium has undergone several expansions and renovations to enhance the fan experience and provide state-of-the-art facilities for the Liberty Flames football program.
Expansion and Renovations
Liberty University President Jerry Falwell Jr. announced a three-phase addition to Williams Stadium on August 28, 2009, signaling a significant investment in the football program and facilities. The primary goal of this project was to increase the stadium's seating capacity from 12,000 to 30,000 seats.
Phase One
The first phase of the construction project focused on building a five-story press box and expanding the stadium's seating capacity by 7,200 seats. Upon completion of this phase, the stadium's seating capacity reached 19,200. The estimated cost for the first phase of the project was $18 million. The new press tower was ready for Liberty's home game against Savannah State held on October 2, 2010.
Phase Two
Phase two involved adding a second deck to the student side of the stadium, increasing the seating capacity to 25,000. This phase was completed in time for the 2018 football season. The estimated cost for the second phase of the project was $40 million.

Football Center
In April 2020, a new football center was completed at the north end of the stadium. This facility houses a new home locker room, coaches' offices, meeting rooms, and a training facility. The center also includes a 16,000-square-foot (1,500 m2) weight room, providing the Liberty Flames football team with top-notch resources for training and development.
Technological Enhancements
In the 2009 off-season, Liberty University added a video scoreboard on the north end of the field, enhancing the game-day experience for fans. In September 2011, a ribbon video board was added to the facade of the upper deck, further improving the stadium's visual appeal and providing additional opportunities for displaying information and engaging with fans.
