Navigating Liberty University Transcripts: A Comprehensive Guide
Understanding the process of obtaining and submitting transcripts is crucial for students and alumni of Liberty University. This article provides a detailed overview of Liberty University's transcript policies, procedures, and related information.
Understanding Transcripts
An official transcript is a certified record of a student's academic history at a college or university. It includes all coursework, grades, and degrees earned. The official transcript comes directly from the institution's registrar's office and is sealed to ensure authenticity.
Ordering Official Transcripts from Liberty University
When you order a transcript from Liberty, you are requesting the Registrar’s Office to issue your official academic record for use by another institution, employer, or organization.
Cost and Processing Time
The cost for official transcripts is $10 for the first copy and $1 for each additional copy requested at the same time. This price applies to both electronic and hard copies. Transcript requests are generally processed within 2 business days. Electronic transcripts are typically received by the recipient within 2-4 hours after processing is complete. All transcript orders are processed within 5 business days.
Military Fee Waiver
A significant benefit for military members* (active duty, discharged, retired, etc.) is the waiver of the transcript fee.

Electronic vs. Hard Copy Transcripts
Liberty University offers both electronic and hard copy transcripts. However, students with majors or degrees that are a part of the ABET (Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology) are unable to order electronic transcripts.
Electronic transcripts are considered official only when sent directly to the recipient.
Expedited Shipping
For faster delivery, expedited shipping is available for an additional fee of $20 per address, in addition to the transcript fee. Expedited shipping is only available for street addresses within the United States, excluding international addresses and Post Office Boxes. To request expedited shipping, indicate this preference when placing your order.

Submitting Official Transcripts to Liberty University
As part of your admission requirements, you need to submit official transcripts from previous college(s) or universities that you have attended. Understanding the difference between ordering a transcript from Liberty University and submitting a transcript request to Liberty is important for processing your records correctly. By contrast, when Liberty requests an official transcript to be sent to us from another college or university, you are authorizing that institution to send your academic record to Liberty for admissions or transfer evaluation.
How to Submit Transcripts
To begin this process, please complete the Official Transcript Request Form below. If your previous institution does not allow third-party requests, we will notify you to request the transcript yourself.
In order to receive a transcript evaluation, you’ll need to request an official transcript from your prior institution. An official transcript can also be submitted through an electronic transcript database provider such as Scrip-Safe, Docufide, Parchment, National Student Clearinghouse, or others. This electronic transcript should be sent directly to Liberty via the school’s system.
Please note: If you have a copy of your official transcript in your possession and have opened the envelope, the transcript is no longer considered official.

Processing Time for Transfer Credit Evaluation
Once your transcript request has been received, the processing time will depend on your previous institution’s response. After Liberty University receives your official transcript from your previous institution, we will complete a transfer credit evaluation within an estimated 1-2 business days, and the transfer credit will be applied to your file. Liberty will reach out 3 times to an institution. After 3 unsuccessful attempts, it will be your responsibility to contact the school.
Transfer Credit Policies
Coursework must be at least 2/3rds the number of hours required by Liberty. For example, BUSI 310 is taught as a 3 semester hour course. In order to receive credit for BUSI 310, the transfer course must be at least 2 semester credits. The 2/3 rule may create a shortage of credit hours (all coursework is met, but a total of 60 or 120 hours is not). If the institution attended was based on a quarter system, then the credits will be converted to the semester system.

Grade Point Average (GPA)
The grade point average is listed at the end of each semester for that semester; the cumulative GPA† is at the end of the transcript.
Repeat Policy
Starting in the fall of 1979, students were permitted to apply the repeat policy to a course by requesting that the previous grade be changed to an “R” and the original grade be removed from the GPA calculation.
Beginning in the fall of 2012, for undergraduate courses, and the fall of 2014, for the graduate/doctoral courses, the repeat policy was changed so that the student’s original grade remains on the transcript, but will not be calculated into their GPA calculation.
Beginning in the fall of 2019 for undergraduate courses and for graduate/doctoral courses, the repeat policy was changed so that the student’s lowest grade remains on the transcript, but will not be calculated into their GPA calculation.
