Comprehensive Digital Curriculum
At the heart of Lincoln Learning Solutions is a commitment to delivering high-quality, standards-driven digital curriculum. This curriculum is designed to be flexible and adaptable to meet the diverse needs of students and educators across various learning environments.
State Standards-Driven Courses
Lincoln Learning Solutions offers state standards-driven courses that are meticulously aligned with specific state frameworks. These courses cover core subjects such as Mathematics, English Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies. The state-specific courses are available for enrollment in the semester format only.
Key Features of State Courses
- Alignment to State Standards: Courses are built entirely from state-specific standards, ensuring complete alignment with the given frameworks.
- Comprehensive Subject Coverage: Core courses are available for Mathematics, English Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies.
- Semester-Long Offerings: All state courses are delivered in a semester format.
- Checkpoint and Mastery Assessments: The courses include Checkpoint Assessments every fifth lesson and Mastery Assessments at the Module level. These assessments allow students to gauge their understanding of the content and ensure they are making adequate progress.
- Behavioral Learning Objectives: Lessons are driven by behavioral, age-appropriate learning objectives based on subject and grade-appropriate state standards.
- Engaging Content: The content is supported by text, imagery, audio, and video to enhance student engagement and comprehension.
- Course Resources: Each course includes a Course Resources folder that contains a course pacing guide and other pertinent information to support the student.
- Research-Driven Curation: Extensive research occurs before the curation of state courses, including reviewing the state department of education’s mandates and graduation requirements. State courses are developed similarly to nationally aligned Empowered courses in that they are built from and driven by the standard frameworks. Behavioral learning objectives are combined to meet the state standard.
Lincoln Empowered: A Modular Approach to Learning
Lincoln Empowered is a courseware system that utilizes learning objects to create rich and engaging lessons. These learning objects can be assigned independently or arranged in courses to provide a comprehensive learning experience.
Understanding Learning Objects
Lincoln Empowered is built upon the concept of learning objects (LOs). These objects are designed to provide students with various approaches to learning. Each lesson incorporates a variety of learning objects, categorized as either essential or enhancements.

Essential Learning Objects
- Read Its: The primary learning tools within a course, Read Its provide essential instructional content to support specific learning objectives. Each Read It has an accompanying Show It and Answer Key.
- Assess Its: Graded assessments that allow students to demonstrate mastery of the content. Assess Its can be online (Checkpoint) or uploaded assessments. Mastery Assess Its are larger, module-based online assessments.
To demonstrate mastery of the content taught in the Read Its, students must submit all Assess Its within a course.
Enhancement Learning Objects
- Teach Its: Provide a real “teacher voice” or an AI-generated extended-learning experience. For students in kindergarten through fifth grade, these learning objects are intended to guide the learner through the Read It content. For grades 6-12, Teach Its feature a lifelike avatar and offer an interactive, alternative perspective to the Read It content-aligned with the same learning objectives but not direct walkthroughs. Teach Its call out specific elements to which students may need to pay special attention and may also help to clarify the content.
- Practice Its: Offer students the opportunity to practice new skills and concepts through online and offline activities and problem sets.
- Show Its: Non-graded activities that allow students to demonstrate mastery of a specific learning objective. Teachers can elect to make Show Its gradable. Answer Keys provide correct answers and detailed feedback for each Show It.
- Apply Its: Non-graded assessments that cover content from multiple lessons. Apply Its are cumulative projects that allow students to demonstrate mastery of several learning objectives and/or standards. Teachers can elect to make these gradable. Answer Keys provide correct answers and detailed feedback for each Apply It.
- Reinforce Its: Designed to reinforce specific concepts and skills.
- Study Guides: Allow students to examine key concepts, terms, and examples from each module prior to taking the Module Mastery.
Completing a Show It, Apply It, and/or Practice It is also important, as these learning objects allow students to demonstrate their understanding of the content in a low-stakes manner.
Teach Its in Detail
Teach It learning objects are designed for students who benefit from hearing course content in addition to reading and interacting with it. For grades 6-12, while Teach Its are aligned to the same learning objectives, they are not direct walkthroughs. The Teach It is not a tool for delivering new instructional material, extending conceptual material, or replacing existing Read Its within the sequence of the course.
The intent is to guide the learner through the content, calling out specific elements to which they may need to pay special attention or add clarity to some pieces of the Read It. The Teach It learning objects are included in core Middle School and Secondary courses. While similar in asset type, the Teach It videos use innovative technology to bring a teaching voice to a student’s experience within the course.
Teach It videos, powered by Creatium, are driven by a lifelike avatar. While the videos are generated from the Read It content and still closely align to the content and the learning objective to which they are written, they are not instructional walkthroughs of the existing Read Its. Instead, these interactive videos offer an alternative lesson perspective to support the Read It including opportunities for low-stakes assessment with instant feedback.

Just like the elementary Teach Its, the middle- and secondary-level Teach Its are not tools for delivering new instructional material, extending conceptual material, or replacing existing Read Its within the sequence of the course.
Flexibility and Customization
Lincoln Learning Solutions understands that educators need the flexibility to adapt the curriculum to their specific needs. Clients can add additional authentic work by adding their own supplementary documents and activities, as well as by making Show Its and Apply Its gradable.
Teacher Notes
If a lesson has an Assess It, teachers may see an unpublished (hidden) Show It/Show It AK or Apply It/Apply It AK set that has the same name. This is intentional for teaching flexibility.
