International Scholars Scholarship

Financial aid for international students applying to undergraduate programs at Lincoln University is highly competitive. However, Lincoln University offers an International Scholars Scholarship awarded annually to only 10 new incoming students.

Eligibility Criteria:* SAT score of 1000 or higher

High school GPA of 3.3 or higher

Coverage: This scholarship covers full tuition and fees.

The Office of International Programs and Services is responsible for selecting the recipients of the International Scholars Scholarship.

Academic Excellence Award

Undergraduate students accepted to LMU will be considered for an Academic Excellence Award. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is required for students receiving an Academic Excellence Award.

FAFSA: The FAFSA is available starting October 1 each year. LMU's school code is 003502.

Enrollment Requirements: Students must enroll at least half-time to be eligible for an Academic Excellence Award. The award amounts are pro-rated based on enrollment status if not enrolled full-time.

Renewal: All scholarships are renewable for three additional years, provided the student maintains a cumulative 2.0 GPA.

Student Involvement: Academic Excellence Award recipients are expected to take an active part in student life by becoming involved in at least one of the University's recognized student organizations (for which you are not receiving scholarship money) each semester.

Application of Awards: All academic awards must be applied toward required tuition, books, fees, housing, and food expenses. All other financial aid, including federal, state, and outside scholarships and institutional grants, will be credited to the student's account first, with the academic award picking up the balance of the student's institutional aid eligibility. No cash refunds will be made.

State Financial Aid Programs

Tennessee Residents

The Tennessee Eligibility Verification for Entitlement Act (EVEA) requires that institutions of higher education verify that anyone seeking a state public benefit (including state financial aid) is a United States citizen or lawfully present in the United States. For most students, verification will be completed when citizenship or eligible non-citizenship status is confirmed by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). To receive Tennessee state financial aid, students must be Tennessee residents as classified pursuant to TCA 49-8-104. The Office of Student Financial Services will use information from the admissions application to verify TN residency.

Kentucky Residents

At least 50% of the classes a student enrolls in must be in-seat courses for a student to receive KY state funds. The Office of Student Financial Services typically awards KY state funds closer to the start of the semester to confirm enrollment hours and the percentage of in-seat courses.

Florida Residents

Students attending the Tampa, FL campus of Lincoln Memorial University may be eligible to receive Florida state financial assistance from programs including, but not limited to, the Florida Bright Futures Scholarship Program and the Florida Student Assistance Grant Program.

Tuition Exchange Scholarship Program

Study Abroad Scholarships

LMU offers a wide array of credit-bearing courses in over 20 countries. Students can choose from classes in business, the social sciences, foreign languages, the applied and fine arts, and STEM fields. Students can opt for long-term exchange programs (one semester - one academic year, through our overseas partner schools), or shorter-term trips (one-four weeks) during summer, winter and spring breaks. Scholarships are available, including the President's Study Abroad Scholarship and the Gilman International Scholarship. For credit-bearing Study Abroad programs, be sure to confirm with the Registrar's office whether/how the Study Abroad credits will transfer BEFORE embarking on your trip.

Lincoln Memorial University is a member of two international consortia: the Cooperative Center for Study Abroad (CCSA) and the Kentucky Institute for International Studies (KIIS). HEERF (CARES Act)

The Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act was passed by congress and signed into law to provide economic relief from COVID-19. One section of the CARES Act established the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF). Under the HEERF, funds were sent to schools to provide refundable emergency grants to students. These funds provide relief for expenses related to the disruption of instruction due to the pandemic.

Understanding College Costs

The sticker price at LMU is $41,720. The cost of attendance can vary from year to year and will typically rise over your four years in college. College costs can look different for every student based on their financial situation. The FAFSA uses financial information from the prior, prior year. The federal government awards Pell Grants to undergraduate students who demonstrate financial need by filling out the FAFSA. Students with a bachelorâs or professional degree are not eligible. Pell Grants do not be repaid. If you receive a Pell Grant, the award amount should remain consistent at any college you gain admission to. Students can use outside scholarships to supplement their financial aid package at LMU. Outside scholarships are awards offered by private and non-profit organizations separate from their college.

Admissions and Enrollment

Students must apply by July 22 to enroll at LMU during the fall semester. Remember that college applications involve many pieces, including essays, a transcript, letters of recommendation, and more.
