First On-Field Victory
The Madonna University football team achieved a historic milestone by securing its first on-field victory against the University of Olivet. The Crusaders defeated Olivet 45-28 at the Cutler Athletic Complex.
Freshman quarterback Nathan Patterson set a new school record with 322 passing yards, surpassing the previous single-game mark. Patterson completed 20 of 37 passes and threw three touchdown passes, including a 78-yard strike to wide receiver Mohammad Berro late in the first quarter. Running back Kwame Miller also left his mark, rushing for 101 yards on 15 carries, tying the third-highest single-game rushing total in school history. Wide receiver Aiden Napier added a highlight moment with a 67-yard touchdown reception early in the fourth quarter, while Jeremy Barber and Rodney Francois also found the end zone through the air. Madonna's offense finished with 557 total yards on 80 plays, converting 10 of 18 third downs and scoring six total touchdowns. Olivet stayed within striking distance through three quarters, fueled by quarterback Daniel Avila's three touchdown passes. With the win, Madonna improved to 1-1 on the season. Crusader Football will be back in action next Saturday, as they travel to Saint Xavier University (Ill.).

Despite their record, the 2024 season marked a vast improvement for the Madonna football program as a whole. In the first year of his tenure as head coach, Brett Guminsky set numerous school records including most points in a season and breaking nearly every previously held offensive record. Several new players set records as well, including running back Nah'shon Williams who is officially the record holder for rushing yards (647) and rushing touchdowns (7) in a season.
Game against Siena Heights University
The Crusaders faced the Siena Heights University Saints at Livonia Franklin High School. The Saints defeated the Crusaders 45-3 in the final game of the 2024 season.
The Saints would score first after driving down the field on a 13 play drive that spanned nearly eight minutes of game time. After this, the Crusaders would put together a long drive of their own, beginning with six-straight touches for freshman running back Nah'shon Williams. After another Saints' score, the Crusaders would put together their best drive of the afternoon just before halftime. With less than thirty seconds to go in the first half, the Saints would air it out and get into the Crusader redzone. They would score once more before the intermission with a long field goal. They would extend their lead to 45-3 midway through the fourth quarter. The Saints' defense held up as they kept the Crusaders out of the endzone. The Crusaders will head into the offseason and begin preparations for the 2025 season.
