Inbound exchange students engage in studies at MUIC for a fixed period, from one trimester up to one academic year, as part of the education abroad programs at their home universities. They have a choice of approximately 400 courses each trimester in the Arts, Sciences and Management. Typically students take the equivalent of 12 to 15 credit hours abroad.

Program Details

Departure takes place the first week of September until mid-December. Students live in the Bundit House.

Insurance

Students are covered in Maryland through Chubb Insurance, including repatriation, as well as 24-hour support services for medical issues.

Visa Requirements

All students are required to apply for an “ED” non-immigrant visa. The cost is approximately $80 USD for a single entry, subject to change without notification. The Program Manager can provide more details regarding the 2 - 3 weeks of applying.

Important Information

Students should tell them that they will be abroad for the semester and should not take their social security cards or credit cards with them.

Student Life at Mahidol University

Mahidol University provides a vibrant campus life with various services and facilities for its students.

Housing Services

Affordable housing is widely available both off and on campus, including shared housing, private flats or condos, and boarding houses. Mahidol University has several dormitories for local and international staff and students. Average monthly rent is about 5,000 - 6,000 THB for a 20-30 square meters furnished single room with air conditioning, bathroom and perhaps a balcony. Many apartments require an advance deposit of one or two months’ rent and utility bills are extra. Most apartments will add a surcharge to the basic electricity bill.

Library Services

The library is a leading international organization that supports education, research, and academic services to internal and external personnel by using information technology. Promotes and cooperates in the exchange of information with domestic and foreign academic networks.

Medical Services

Mahidol University students are eligible to use health care services and hospitals throughout the Mahidol University campus. The students must show student card with identification card (or passport for foreign students) when they use health care services.

Campus and Sports Life

Cycling is encouraged as a means for people to commute around campus and in support of the university’s policy to improve the quality of life of its staff and students’. Therefore, bicycles are provided to rent free of charge. The Sports Club is part of the MUIC Health Education Program. Competitions are organized between different leagues during the academic year. Normally, a team will practice two to three times a week. There are three different sports activities at MUIC: Soccer, basketball and volleyball. Try-outs for newcomers are held every trimester. In the second trimester several league matches are held while the third trimester features the International Sports Competition and the Freshy Games.

Student Clubs

One of the major responsibilities of the MUIC Student Association is supervising its satellites of student clubs. By participating in extra-curricular activities, students not only cultivate their personal communication, team-building and leadership skills but also contribute to the development of the college and the greater community. Some of the student clubs available are Art Club, Animal Lovers Club, Board Game Club, Cheer and Dance Club, Cycling Club, Music Club, Photography and Multimedia Club, Sports Club, and Thai Music Club.
