Navigating the MCPHS Student Portal: A Comprehensive Guide

The MCPHS Student Portal serves as a central hub for various aspects of student life, from admissions and financial aid to housing and academic resources. This guide provides a comprehensive overview of how to effectively utilize the portal throughout your academic journey.

Application and Admissions

The application portal marks your initial step toward joining the MCPHS community. It's crucial to understand the application process and present yourself effectively.

Early Application Advantage

Many programs at MCPHS operate on a rolling admission basis. Applying early increases your chances of acceptance, so it is better to apply earlier rather than closer to the deadline.

Crafting a Compelling Letter of Intent

Your application is our first introduction to you. The letter of intent is a critical component of your application, allowing you to showcase your personality and motivations. To create a strong letter of intent:

  • Express Enthusiasm: Share your genuine enthusiasm for the specific program or company you are applying to. Why are you drawn to it?
  • Highlight Your Fit: Emphasize the relevant skills, experiences, and qualifications that make you a strong candidate for the position. Demonstrate how you align with the program's values and goals.
  • Summarize Key Points: Conclude your letter by summarizing the main points you've discussed, reinforcing your interest and suitability.

Remember to tailor your letter of intent to the specific position and organization you are applying to! While some programs differ, it is generally considered a best practice to address the letter of intent to the program specific fellowship director(s), as mentioned in the company brochure.

Curriculum Vitae (CV) Best Practices

Your CV provides a detailed overview of your academic and professional achievements. Here are some tips for creating an effective CV:

  • Tailor Your CV: Customize your CV to highlight the experiences and skills most relevant to the position you're seeking.
  • Projects and Presentations: Showcase relevant projects or presentations you have completed during APPEs, internships, or school.
  • Publications/Posters: List any published work or posters, including the title, authors, and publication details. You may include ongoing manuscripts for publication or posters that will be presented in the near future.
  • Work Experience: Include any other work experiences you have, such as community or hospital pharmacy intern positions.
  • Keep it Concise: We recommend your CV be no more than four pages (if it is more than four pages, evaluate what is on your CV and how it adds value to your story).

References

References play a vital role in supporting your application.

  • Online Submission: References will need to complete and submit an online form via SMApply, NOT a formal letter of recommendation.
  • Contact Information: You will need to provide the contact information of three professional references. You may submit up to four, however, only three are required.
  • Timely Submission: You cannot submit your application until you have entered the contact information for all of your references, however, recommenders have until the deadline to complete their recommendation.
  • Choose Wisely: Ideally, they should be from the pharmacy field, but it is not mandatory. You should choose people who can give you a strong recommendation and who know you well.

Financial Aid

Navigating financial aid can seem daunting, but MCPHS offers resources to help you create a manageable plan.

Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

If you have not already done so, please make certain to fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The MCPHS University college code for the FAFSA is 002165. Please note: Your social security number (SSN) must be on file with the Admission Office in order for Student Financial Services to review your application for federal aid.

Personalized Financial Counseling

Let us help create a financial plan that works for you and your family. In a one-on-one phone conversation, a knowledgeable Student Financial Services counselor will break down the numbers for you, show you all of your available options, and give you a clear picture of how to make your education happen. Recommended for students who have submitted their FAFSA form and have already received their financial aid package from us.

Health and Immunization

Maintaining a healthy campus environment is a priority at MCPHS.

Immunization Compliance

The Student Immunization Compliance Office is a part of the Division of Student Affairs and is dedicated to the health and safety of the MCPHS community in compliance with State of Massachusetts immunization laws. Students who are not in compliance with the MCPHS and state immunization requirements before the start of classes may not be allowed to move into MCPHS-sponsored housing.

CastleBranch Account

You will pay a one-time fee to CastleBranch to create your CastleBranch account. Instructions about payment will be provided on the payment step of the online order process. It is strongly recommended that you save a copy of your completed immunization form and your immunization records.

Academics and Registration

The portal provides access to your academic schedule and resources.

Accessing Your Schedule

Your confirmed schedule will be accessible to you via your MCPHS Self-Service account. On your schedule, class times will say “TBD” due to the fact that there is no specific log-on time. Master of Public Health students will be registered in their first two courses automatically. BSHS Completion students should contact Anthony Lacina to discuss their first semester schedule. Please note: Nursing, Dental Hygiene, MRI, and PharmD students must speak with a program director to request schedule changes.

Office of Student Access and Accommodations (OSAA)

The Office of Student Access and Accommodations (OSAA) is a part of the Division of Student Affairs and provides services and accommodations to students across our three campuses (Manchester, Boston & Worcester). Students are encouraged to meet with OSAA in advance of the start of classes and/or the housing deadline to discuss reasonable accommodations.

Course Registration

New StudentsThe Registrar's Office is notified by the Admission Office of a student's intent to matriculate. Students are then registered for required courses in the months before they matriculate. You can filter your search results afterwards by subject, campus, availability, and term. Refer to this help document for assistance. Note the inclusion of any prerequisites for the course. When registering for the course, you must present a sealed, official copy of a transcript proving that you have successfully completed prerequisite courses (if applicable).Note the number of seats available for the course.Know that professional-level course registration requires the expressed approval of the respective dean of the college offering the course.Complete the non-matriculated student registration form and submit it to the Registrar's Office. Be sure to consult the Academic Calendar in the drop down menu below for semester registration deadlines.Be prepared to pay for the course in full at the time of registration.

Housing and Residence Life

For many students, living on campus is an integral part of the college experience.

Housing Options

The majority of first year students will live in double or triple bedrooms across our various residence halls. There are an extremely limited number of single spaces across campus. St. You will have the ability to rank the three different styles of residence hall on their form-you will not see specific buildings. Housing deposits, forms, and OSAA requests will be accepted after the deadline. To help us assign students to housing, please complete the form on our Residence Life Portal by May 15, 2026.

Housing Contract and Profile

  • Housing Contract: The Housing Contract outlines the rules and regulations for living on campus for the Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 semesters, with the option to include summer 2027 if enrolled in courses.
  • Housing Profile: On to the fun part! The profile is where we ask you to describe your living preferences so we can match students. Within this section, students will let us know how they like to keep their living space, if they’re a morning or evening person, what their hobbies are, etc.

Roommate Selection

Have someone you would like to live with? Or, interested in searching for a fellow first-year student to room with? You’ll be able to do both within the Residence Life Portal before May 26, 2026.

  • Creating a Profile: Under “My Info” all students have the option to create a profile to share a bit about themselves with other potential roommates.
  • Searching for Roommates: After completing the Housing Profile and Contract, visit the “Roommate Selection” section of the Residence Life Portal and select the “Fall 2026” term. You can search for a specific person (by first or last name) or search by criteria. You can send a roommate request, that can be accepted. Important Tip: Do not include too many criteria in your search- that won’t return any results! Students may request up to 3 people to room with, filling a 4-person space. When requesting roommates, ALL requests must be mutually accepted. This means that if 4 people want to live together, every student must have accepted a roommate request from each of the other students. All roommate requests must be made via the “Roommate Selection” section of the Residence Life portal.
  • Roommate Matching: How often would you like to have guests? When do you wake up and go to bed? Are you a morning or evening shower person? We try our best to match students according to their Housing Profile form. Please know that assigning roommates based on race, religion, ethnicity or cultural background is a not something we can practice. Unless two students mutually request each other, we place individuals based on the preferences listed on the Housing Profile Form. We strive to create an environment where all members of the university can learn from each other.

Housing Questions

Questions about your Housing Profile and Contract? The Office of Student Access and Accommodations (OSAA) is a part of the Division of Student Affairs. It provides accommodations to students across all MCPHS campuses (Boston, Worcester, and Manchester) and online. Students eligible for accommodations must present documentation demonstrating evidence of a current condition that interferes with one or more major life functions as defined by the ADAA 2008 and/or Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. Have questions about living on the MCPHS Boston campus? MCPHS offers University sponsored housing to students through their second year of study. However, availability and eligibility can vary from year to year.
