Empower Me! - Your Gateway to Academic and Financial Records

Upon acceptance to Mercy College, your first crucial step is to create your Empower Me! account. EMPOWER ME! is the online student information system that empowers students to access their academic and financial records. This is where you'll manage everything from course registration to financial aid.

Enrollment Essentials

Enrollment Deposit

All new incoming undergraduate students are required to pay the non-refundable enrollment deposit upon admission to the College. The deposit will be used toward the balance of your first bill upon enrolling. Note that Enrollment Deposits are automatically waived for BSMH Employees, Recent Mercy College Graduates, and students that have attended Healthcare Worker Wednesday or an On-campus Information Session.

Intent to Register

All new students are required to submit an Intent to Register form via their student portal prior to enrolling in courses. When submitting the form, you will be asked to select a preferred format for your registration session:

  • Open House Registration: This in-person, on-campus event is the perfect opportunity to get to know Mercy College! In addition to registration, a resource fair will be available to all attendees.
  • By Appointment: Your advisor will reach out to set up a time with you to go over course options and schedules.

You must attend one session in order to register for your classes.

Academic Preparation

Math Placement Assessment

Students required to take the math placement assessment are notified by their academic advisor. The math placement assessment is a computerized assessment that provides information about a student’s math skills and preparation for college-level coursework.

Plan of Study/Program Worksheet

Medical Imaging and Imaging Certificates students receive a Plan of Study/Program Worksheet from their Academic Advisor. Graduate online students, depending on your program, please contact your program advisor directly to schedule. Master of Health Administration (MHA) students must schedule their appointment online.

Microsoft Authenticator Two-Factor Authentication

Students must also sign up for Microsoft Authenticator two-factor authentication.

Canvas - Your Online Learning Hub

All online students are required to complete a Virtual New Student Orientation, which is in our learning management system, Canvas. Students will gain access to Canvas 24 hours after registering for courses. Upon logging in to Canvas, you will see a tile on your dashboard for the Blue Healer Hub. Once in the Blue Healer Hub, scroll down and select “All Students Start Here.” After completing this module, return to the Blue Healer Hub homepage and select “Online Student Programs - Required New Student Orientation.” This orientation includes the required Title IX Sexual Violence and Harassment training for all Mercy College students. Please complete this before classes begin, as it provides essential information about college resources and processes.

Online Bookstore

Mercy College of Ohio offers an online bookstore through ECampus. After registering for classes, students should access the online bookstore to order textbooks. Once you have registered for classes, you’ll be given information on ordering your required textbooks. Students whose financial aid award offers do exceed total tuition and fees may apply for a book voucher to purchase books and supplies through Mercy College’s online bookstore.

Mercy Connect

Mercy Connect is Mercy University's web portal that provides personalized access to web services. Note: If you are a prospective student who has not yet been admitted to Mercy University, you will need to be admitted first. Your personal information on Mercy Connect is protected through your username and password. Yes, Mercy Connect has MFA turned on and enforced. The portal is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Some services and channels rely on data from systems that are down for backup and maintenance during the evening. To prevent others from gaining access to your private information (student records, financial information, your online coursework, etc.), particularly when you are using a public computer, please remember to log out. Yes. Mercy Connect presents a 'pop up' window alerting you of log out due to inactivity. The best way to navigate through the portal is to use the tabs and the links within Mercy Connect. No. Faculty and staff see a different default view of Mercy University than students see. The content that an individual sees is determined by their role at the College. Currently the possible roles are student, faculty, and/or staff. Information moves from campus databases to the portal in real time. For students, courses are displayed upon registration. For faculty, courses are displayed as soon as the faculty assignment is made.

Financial Aid and Billing

FAFSA and Financial Aid

File the FAFSA. To apply for state and federal aid (grants and loans), you'll want to submit the free FAFSA. Mount Mercy’s FAFSA Code is 001880. The FAFSA is an annual form and must be submitted each academic year you plan to enroll in courses. The next academic year’s FAFSA becomes available every year on October 1. Be aware that the state of Iowa has a deadline of July 1 for students to submit their next academic year FAFSAs in order to remain eligible for state-funded aid.

Accept your financial aid award online. Be sure to sign and return your financial aid award. This step is important so we know you've accepted your aid. Submit the Deferred Billing/Employer Tuition Reimbursement form (if applicable and not submitted previously). File the FAFSA. Mercy College Scholarship Applications

Mercy College Scholarship applications are available in the fall and spring for students who satisfy a wide range of criteria, from single parenthood to outstanding academic achievement. Funds awarded from applications received during the spring round (March 1 - 31) will be distributed evenly across each term of the next academic year.

Tuition and Payment Plans

Please be aware that your financial aid award offer may not completely cover your tuition and fee charges. If that is the case, you must either pay the remaining balance in full or set up a payment plan with our Billing Office before the first day of classes. Payments not made by the first day of term will be assessed a late payment fee. You can view your available financial aid and any remaining balance on your MyMercy account after you have registered for classes.

Additional Requirements and Resources

Transcripts

Students currently taking courses at another institution or finishing high school must be sure to request that final transcripts be sent to Mercy College. This ensures that all completed coursework is reviewed for transfer credit and all final grades have been documented.

Program-Specific Requirements

Depending on the program that a student is admitted to, additional requirements may be required including Background Checks, Drug Screens, and Health Records, a program specific meeting, and/or other necessary paperwork.

DISA Healthcare Technology

DISA Healthcare Technology is an online, secure and confidential platform Mercy College utilizes for students to order their background checks and submit documentation on training and requirements online. Watch our DISA Healthcare Technology video to help assist you with your clinical requirements. Please note, DISA Healthcare Technology was previously known as CastleBranch.

Student ID Badge and Parking Permit

Your Student ID badge must be worn visibly on campus and in clinical settings at all times. Parking on campus is free to all students with a campus parking permit.

Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification

All Mercy College students must be Basic Life Support (BLS) certified.

Mercy Burlingame

Welcome to Mercy Burlingame! On this web page, we have included everything you need to know to have a smooth transition to Mercy High School. This link should be opened and authenticated by the person who plans to complete all registration forms. You can also log into your application account on the SchoolAdmin system. Within the online registration process there is a link to setup your tuition account with FACTS Tuition Management Company. Schoology is Mercy's communication portal. Magnus is where you will upload health and immunization documentation as well as athletic-related forms. You can access Magnus through a link in PowerSchool. 70% of all students participate in at least one of our 25 teams across 15 sports. Mercy Athletics is committed to creating a student-centered environment where our student-athletes are focused on pride, commitment, leadership, sportsmanship, and respect. Tryouts and Strength and Conditioning begin over the summer. Summer conditioning will take place June 16th-July 24th with General, Swim, Basketball, Flag Football, Waterpolo, and Volleyball sessions. In order to participate in Summer conditioning, all Magnus documents need to be uploaded and approved prior to participation. Athletics Physical - All athletes are required to submit a physical between June 1st and July 8th, 2025 to be approved to participate in athletics at Mercy.

Additional Tips for International Students

Get your F-1 student visa. Embassy or Consulate. Complete your housing application. There is no separate housing deposit, but you will need to fill out a form noting any preferences and lifestyle questions. If you plan to live off-campus with a parent or legal guardian (within 30 miles of Mount Mercy), you need to complete the housing exemption application on eRezLife and indicate that you will be living off-campus.
