Program Offerings
Mildred Elley provides a variety of e-learning courses, including healthcare, business management, and computer programming. Mildred Elley's e-learning offerings encompass a diverse range of subjects, with courses designed to meet the needs of both new learners and those seeking to advance their skills. The Pittsfield Mildred Elley campus currently offers three programs - namely, programs for students pursuing clinical medical assistant, cosmetology and practical nursing certifications. Specific programs may also have associated costs, such as a one-time fee upon registration in LPN130 for Practical Nursing students or the purchase of scrubs for Massage Therapy, Medical Assisting, and Practical Nursing students.
Financial Considerations
For matriculated students, tuition is based on the assumption that a student will remain in college for the entire program. Books and supplies are not included in the tuition and fees schedule listed above. Books and supplies can be purchased through the college’s online bookstore. A student’s cost of books and supplies will vary each module depending upon classes being taken and the books and supplies required for each course. Textbooks and supplies are purchased by the student and become the property of the student. Students are not required to purchase their books or supplies at the college bookstore. The cost of these items is non-refundable.

Pittsfield Campus Closure
In a statement, Mildred Elley board of directors Chair Faith Takes acknowledged that it was a “sad day” to see the Pittsfield campus close, but said Mildred Elley has to evolve to keep up with changes in the community. The decision to close the Pittsfield campus was motivated in part by declining enrollment as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and the expanded availability of free community college in Massachusetts.
In 2023, the state launched its MassReconnect program, which provides free community college for anyone over the age of 25 without a bachelor's or associate degree in the commonwealth - the statement noted that 70 percent of Mildred Elley’s Pittsfield enrollment fits into that demographic. This year, that access was expanded even further with the MassEducate program - now, any resident in the state without a bachelor’s degree can attend community college without being charged for tuition or fees as part of the most recently passed state budget.
State Rep. Tricia Farley-Bouvier said Monday that she was glad to hear Mildred Elley was honoring its commitments to current students but assured city residents that all they needed to do was “go up West Street” to Berkshire Community College, where they may find increased financial aid options and more transferable credits. Farley-Bouvier noted that she has assisted several constituents over the years who have incurred debt from the school without receiving adequate transferable credits.
The statement from Pierce said the closure did not require any layoffs, and all current staff at the Pittsfield campus were able to find new positions at the remaining campuses.
