Student Achievements

Nevada State University celebrates the achievements of its students and alumni. Amanda Soukaserm, a Fall 2025 graduate with a degree in Visual Media and a minor in Criminal Justice, is one example of an outstanding student. Amanda's passion for visual storytelling was sparked in her Digital Photography I class, where she met new friends and held her first camera. As a Student Ambassador during the 2024-2025 academic year, Amanda represented Nevada State while pursuing her interest in videography, photography, and filmmaking. After graduation, Amanda plans to work with a film studio in Los Angeles, collaborate on projects in Las Vegas, or build a career as a full-time portrait and lifestyle photographer.

Another notable graduate is Jocelyne Acosta, who recently earned her psychology degree. Jocelyne became a mother at 18, but she persevered and was determined to show other teen mothers what is possible with perseverance and self-belief.

Messages from Student Leadership

NSSA Student Body President, Lahana Pearce, shared a special welcome back message. "Scorpions!! WE DID IT! TWO WEEKS DOWN! 🥳 👏 It’s been so cool seeing the campus so lively and having scorpions flooding the study rooms, cafe, buildings, and parking lot! LOL I hope you all feel proud of yourself. Finishing the first couple of weeks- whether it’s your first semester, your last semester (like me, grad twins!), or one of many semesters to go - this is a HUGE deal. You overcame all the nerves, worries, and challenges you had and are finding your groove. As we continue this semester, let’s remember to keep reminding ourselves that we are doing an amazing job, and that we are all in this together. As the semester continues, please remember that the Nevada State Student Alliance (NSSA) and Nevada State University is ALWAYS here for you. We will continue to advocate for you and ensure that student voices are heard. Every person you come across on campus, is cheering you on! Wherever that’s silently or out loud. NSSA and the Office of Student Life will keep doing fun events and gatherings to continue building community and being Scorpions, together. Have a great rest of your Spring Semester, and for those who are graduating in May…I’ll see you across the stage! Stingers Up!"

Lahana Pearce also shared a special holiday message. "Hey Scorpions! 🦂 I hope you all are having a restful winter break that each of you deserve and you’re spending time with your loved ones…and maybe even having time for some doom scrolling. I just wanted to quickly mention how proud I am of all of you! I may not have met or talked to all of you (yet), but just know that NSSA, Nevada State, and of course myself, are always rooting for you and cheering you on! Being in college is hard, and on top of that you have lots of responsibilities to uphold, families to take care of, and most of all, taking care of yourself. It’s important that you prioritize yourself and make sure you do lots of self care whenever it’s needed! Your wellbeing always comes first. At NSSA, myself and our incredible team want to share our excitement for this upcoming semester and continuing to represent you all! We have so much more in store for you all and we’re just getting started. Your future, is our mission! Happy holidays Scorpions! Rest up, eat well, raid your families fridge, and Happy New year! Stingers Up!"
