North South Foundation: Empowering Students Through Scholarships and Programs
Since 1989, the NorthSouth Foundation has been dedicated to empowering students, enabling them to achieve their full potential through a variety of programs and initiatives. The foundation provides a pathway to success for students from all backgrounds through academic coaching, its Learning Journey program, and academic competitions.
A Holistic Approach to Student Development
The NorthSouth Foundation's approach extends beyond financial assistance. The foundation fosters leadership and citizenship through programs like Young Changemakers. Our annual academic competitions and spelling bees inspire thousands of students to reach for the stars. These programs aim to develop well-rounded individuals prepared to contribute to their communities and the world.
Scholarship Details
North South Foundation (NorthSouth) provides scholarships to undergraduate students based on merit and financial need. The scholarship is an annual award and not a one-time payment. The student is eligible for the scholarship until graduation as long as he/she maintains high academic standards. NorthSouth funds these scholarships by raising donations in the US.
Eligible Courses
NorthSouth offers scholarships for students who have gained admission to professional courses. These include:
- 3-year polytechnic (diploma in engineering)
- Degree in Engineering (1st year & Lateral Entry in 2nd year from Diploma)
- MBBS
- BDS
- B.Pharma
- Diploma in Agriculture
- BSc (Ag)
- BSc (Nursing)
- BA.BEd/B.Sc.BEd (Limited to Regional Institutes of Education of NCERT Ajmer, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Mysore and Shillong)
NorthSouth supports students through their entire course of study as long as he or she doesn’t fail in the examination.

Application Process
The scholarship process begins at the chapter level in India with an announcement by the India Chapter Coordinator (ICC). Each India chapter has a volunteer who acts as the ICC, who is responsible for all activities of the chapter - from forming the selection committee, reviewing applications, interviewing applicants and giving the scholarships cheques at an awards ceremony. Volunteers who live in USA and are closely associated with a chapter in India act as liaisons.
To apply for a NorthSouth Foundation scholarship, students must complete an online form. The form is dynamic, and applicants are expected to fill in all columns correctly. The software will prevent progression to the next screen if any mandatory eligibility criteria are not met. Applicants need to locate the Chapter Coordinator nearest to their college. If there is no coordinator nearby, they should choose a chapter coordinator near their residence. This scholarship is on first come first served basis.
Eligibility Criteria
NorthSouth uses uniform eligibility criteria to identify meritorious students across chapters. We are searching for really needy and meritorious students pursuing different courses.

Donations and Support
While a donation to NorthSouth goes towards the general pool of college scholarships, some time if a donor wishes to support a student from one college or a student in a specific course of study NorthSouth finds an eligible student and gives a designated scholarship. NorthSouth also helps students to complete their high school.
