Registration Procedures: A Step-by-Step Guide
The registration process at Hunter College is primarily managed through the CUNYfirst system. Here's a breakdown of the key steps and considerations:
1. Preparation is Key: The Registration Checklist
Before diving into registration, utilize the Registration Checklist to ensure you meet all eligibility requirements and are fully prepared to enroll in classes.

2. Accessing CUNYfirst
All course registration is performed at CUNYfirst via each student’s CUNYfirst account. Access to CUNYfirst is available at the CUNY web page at www.cuny.edu or at www.hunter.cuny.edu. If you are unable to access your CUNYfirst account, please contact the Student Help Desk for assistance.
3. Utilizing the CUNY Schedule Builder
All students are strongly encouraged to register for classes with the CUNY Schedule Builder.
4. Registration Dates and Times
Prior to each registration period, the registrar’s office develops a Schedule of Classes, available via CUNYFirst. Students are assigned registration dates and times based upon their academic progress.
5. Course Selection and Waitlists
If a class you want has been filled, you can join a wait list for that class, and request automatic enrollment.
6. Proficiency Requirements and Immunization Records
Prior to registering, Hunter College students must demonstrate proficiency in the basic skills of reading, writing and mathematics. If you plan to register for six or more credits, you must provide proof of immunization to Immunization Records before you register for classes.

7. Actions within CUNYfirst
Students may register, drop or withdraw, view their transcript, current schedule, current bill, change their non-permanent address or phone number, view open course sections and access their registration appointment times.
8. Registering for Courses at Other CUNY Campuses: CUNY ePermit
Students wishing to register for courses at another CUNY campus may do so by applying for a CUNYePermit, also available in CUNYfirst. Effective fall 2004, grades for courses taken on permit are posted to students’ records and are computed in the GPA.
9. Monitoring Grades
Students should pay careful attention to their grade and if there are any errors, contact their instructor immediately.
Transcript Requests
Official transcript requests may be submitted to the Jamestown Business College Registrar until closure. Transcript requests are fulfilled through Parchment Exchange. TKC currently partners with the National Student Clearinghouse to provide transcripts and degree verifications.
