Ole Miss Stamps Scholarship: Opportunities and Requirements
The University of Mississippi (UM), also known as Ole Miss, offers a wide range of scholarships to support its students' academic pursuits. These scholarships include both merit-based and need-based awards. To be considered for any scholarship, students must first be admitted to the University of Mississippi. It's also important to explore scholarship opportunities with your chosen academic department since some departmental and professional school awards may not be included in the general listing. Scholarship eligibility, criteria, and amounts are subject to change without prior notice.
Stamps Impact Prize
The Stamps Impact Prize is a competitive award designed to enhance undergraduate academic experiences by supporting student-initiated projects. This prize supports student-initiated research scholarship, creative works, community outreach projects, technology development, or other innovative experiential learning projects. Faculty mentorship is an essential component, with students working closely with their mentors during the development and execution of their projects.
Eligibility and Project Requirements
The Stamps Impact Prize program is open to students enrolled on the Oxford and Regional campuses. Competitive applications are those in which:
- The research scholarship, creative works, etc., are clearly student-generated ideas.
- The student makes a substantial independent contribution to the project.
- The activities result in, or contribute to, a significant finished product for the student, such as authorship on a publishable manuscript, creation of an artistic or scholarly work, or a technical paper.
The Stamps Impact Prize does not support ongoing faculty-initiated research or creative achievement projects. Recipients typically conduct their projects across academic semesters and/or summer terms.
Award Details
The maximum award amount is $5,000. Allowable expenses include direct project/experience supplies, any travel-related costs (outside of the study abroad or Study USA programs), and student stipends (if the project does not coincide with a period for-credit enrollment, typically summer). Project support during the summer after graduation is not eligible. A $2,000 before-tax stipend is paid to the faculty mentor at the completion of the student project.

Stamps Scholarship
Thanks to the generosity of the Stamps Scholars Program, exceptional students at Ole Miss have the financial support to fully utilize opportunities, further enhancing their educational experiences.
Overview of the Stamps Scholarship
The Stamps Scholarships cover selected students’ full cost of attendance after need-based aid and other scholarships the recipients receive are credited to their accounts. The Stamps Scholarships are a part of our Chancellor’s Scholars Program, the premier merit-based scholarship program for all academic majors at UM.
Application Process
Incoming freshmen who wish to be considered for Chancellor’s Scholarships must file a University of Mississippi Admission Application and submit an online Special Programs and Scholarships Application. Applying for a Stamps Scholarship is easy: just apply to one or more of our partner schools. If you qualify, you’ll automatically be considered for a Stamps award. The majority of our partner colleges and universities don’t require a separate application for the Stamps Scholarship, but the application deadline and award process varies from school to school along with the amount of the award.

International Undergraduate Student Scholarships (IUSS)
International students who transfer from Universities within or outside of the USA may qualify for International Undergraduate Student Scholarships (IUSS) which can cover up to 100% of non-resident tuition fees. Scholarships are based on available funding, earned university/college grades and evidence of English proficiency. They are credited towards non-resident fees and may be combined with other scholarships, but will only be applied to the non-resident portion of tuition. Scholarships are non-deferrable and non-transferable, though are renewable, provided academic progression and grade requirements are met, and valid legal status is maintained. Students may be awarded the scholarship for a total of 4 academic years towards a first bachelor’s degree only. International students who are externally funded (e.g. by their government) may not qualify for these scholarships.
General Scholarship Information
Eligibility for Freshman and Transfer Students
- Freshman: To be considered a “freshman” for these awards, you must not have earned more than 18 college credit hours after your high school graduation. This does not include dual enrollment courses taken while enrolled in high school.
- Transfer: To be considered for Transfer scholarships, you must transfer with at least 30 transferable credit hours, as determined by the Office of Admissions.
Private Scholarships
Private scholarships are awards provided by organizations outside of the University, such as Elks, Rotary, your local high school, national organizations, churches etc. You apply directly to the organization sponsoring the scholarship. The organization then selects the recipient(s) and sends the funds to the University which are then applied to your Bursar’s account. If you receive a private scholarship award, this may impact your financial aid award since the combination of all financial aid and scholarships cannot exceed your cost of attendance. If needed, the loans that are offered to you will be reduced first, then other aid. If you know that you will be receiving a private scholarship, please contact our office as soon as possible to prevent receiving an overaward and possible repayment of aid you have already received.
Scholarship Renewal
Scholarship awards based on merit only are generally renewable for subsequent undergraduate years, provided the recipient maintains the required grade point average. Please review the terms and conditions of your scholarship.
