Programming Overhead Door Codedodger® Wireless Keypad
Basic Programming
This section outlines the initial steps to prepare your keypad for programming.
- Open the keypad cover fully: The indicator light will blink once and then go out.
- Enter the code: Press the sequence
3-5-7. - Press the PROG button: The indicator will blink once per second.
- Enter PIN 1: Input your personal identification number (PIN) consisting of up to 8 digits.
- Press the PROG button again: The indicator will blink twice per second.
- Close the cover: Your keypad is now ready to be programmed to the garage door opener.

- Locate the Learn button: This is usually found on the motor unit of your garage door opener, often near where the antenna wire hangs down.
- Press and hold the program button on the remote until the LED lights up.
- Press the button you want to program on the remote.
- Press the Learn button on your garage door opener.

- Wait for the lights to turn off; the PIN is now set.
Programming the Wireless Keypad to the Power Head

- Enter the programming menu: Press and release the square button; you should see the short blue LED turn to a long purple LED.
- Pick up the remote for your Odyssey or Destiny unit and press the button that you have already programmed to the power head.

- Press the up/down arrow button. You will see the LED lights on the power head change from a flashing long and short purple to a solid long and short purple.
- Press and release the up/down arrow key one more time. You will see the LED change from solid long and short purple to solid long and short blue. This confirms the connection between the CodeDodger one wireless keypad to the powerhead.
- Press the up/down arrow one more time. You will see the Odyssey or Destiny opener start to move.
Programming a CodeDodger 1 Remote to Odyssey/Destiny Opener
- Enter the main menu: Press and hold the square button until you see the long and short blue LED.
- Release the square button; you will see the short blue LED only.
- Enter the programming menu: Press and release the square button; you should see the short blue LED turn to a long purple LED.
- Pick up the remote for your Odyssey or Destiny unit and press the button that you have already programmed to the power head. This opens the window to allow programming a CodeDodger 1 remote. You should see the LED lights on the power head turn to a flashing long and short purple.
- Press the button on the CodeDodger 1 remote that you wish to program. You will see the LED lights on the power head change from a flashing long and short purple to a solid long and short purple.
- Press and release the button on the CodeDodger 1 remote one more time. You will see the LED change from solid long and short purple to solid long and short blue; this confirms the connection.
- Press the button on the CodeDodger 1 remote one more time. You will see the Odyssey or Destiny opener start to move.
Changing the Speed Settings on Odyssey/Destiny Openers
These openers have three speed settings for both the open and closed directions: maximum, medium, and slow. The factory setting is maximum speed for both.
Enter the main menu: Press and hold the square button until you see the long and short blue LED.
Release the square button; you will see the short blue LED only.
Press the up arrow with the plus sign two times, and the long and short blue LED will appear.
Press the square button to enter the speed programming menu. You will see the short blue LED flash three times, then show the current speed setting for the up travel (open speed).
- Maximum speed: Solid red long and short LEDs.
- Medium speed: Purple LEDs.
- Slow speed: Blue LEDs.
Press the down arrow to decrease the speed or the up arrow to increase it.
Press the square button to confirm the desired open speed. You will see confirmation of the long LED flash blue three times.
The close (down) speed level will now be shown.
Press the down arrow to change the close speed.
Press the square button to confirm the desired close speed. Both LEDs will flash blue to confirm it is set.
When changing the speed during installation, press the remote or wall console and visually confirm that this is the desired speed.
Programming to HomeLink
This section details how to program your Overhead Door opener to a HomeLink system.
Initial Steps
- Program one of the buttons on the remote into CodeDodger 1 mode. Press and hold one of the unused buttons for 10 seconds. You will see the LED change from green to green and red. Once you see green and red, release the button and press the same button two times to confirm the change to CodeDodger® 1. You should now see the LED being red when activated.
- Clear HomeLink memory: Press and hold the two outer HomeLink buttons, releasing only when the HomeLink indicator light begins to flash (usually within 20 seconds).
Training HomeLink
- Press the appropriate HomeLink button (1, 2, or 3) that you want to train and keep holding it until the indicator light starts flashing slowly. Once the indicator light starts flashing slowly, release the button. HomeLink is now in training mode.
- Locate the transmitter unit: Refer to your vehicle's owner’s manual or download instructions from www.homelink.com. For some vehicles, the transmitter unit is located near the right headlight.
- Hold the original remote between 3 to 5 inches from the transmitter location.
- Press and hold the button on your original remote that is programmed to CodeDodger® 1 while keeping your hazard warning lights in view. For some vehicles, the hazard warning lights will blink three times to indicate that the training has been successful.
- Return to the vehicle and firmly press and hold the trained HomeLink button for 2 seconds and release.
- Move to the garage door opener powerhead and find the programming buttons.
- Enter the main menu: Press and hold the square button until you see the long and short blue LED. Release and you will see the short blue LED only.
- Enter the programming menu: Press and release the square button you should see the short blue LED turn to a long purple LED.
- Pick up the remote for your Odyssey or Destiny unit and press the button that you've already program to the powerhead.
- Return to the vehicle and firmly press and hold the trained HomeLink button for 2 seconds and release. Repeat the press-hold-release sequence for 2 seconds again. The third press-hold-release sequence will activate the garage door opener.
Important Considerations
- Refer to the Owner's Manual: Always refer to the owner's manual for your specific vehicle and garage door opener for detailed instructions and safety precautions.
- LED Light Bulbs: In older garage door openers, using an LED light bulb could interfere with the remote control signal, causing the opener to not work properly.
