Navigating Parking Garage H at UCF: A Comprehensive Guide
The University of Central Florida (UCF) is a large university with a correspondingly large need for parking. To meet this demand, UCF has constructed multiple parking garages across its campus. Among these, Parking Garage H stands out due to its strategic location, sustainable design, and contribution to easing parking challenges, especially during peak hours and special events. Location and Purpose
Parking Garage H is strategically situated on Gemini Boulevard, in close proximity to the Knight’s Plaza and the Psychology Building. This location is particularly advantageous as it serves several key areas of the campus. According to a February 2010 article in the Central Florida Future, the addition of this garage provided 1,326 parking spaces. This addition aimed to alleviate parking congestion for the nearly 54,000 students enrolled at UCF during the 2010-2011 academic year.
While UCF has faced parking issues since the early 1970s, the construction of Parking Garage H played a crucial role in mitigating parking shortages, especially on the west side of campus. The construction of the new Performing Arts Building had significantly impacted parking availability in that area, and Garage H helped to offset this reduction. Furthermore, Parking Garage H is beneficial for attendees of athletic and entertainment events held on the northern part of the campus, providing a convenient parking option.
Sustainable Design and Features
Beyond its capacity, Parking Garage H incorporates sustainable design and construction elements. One notable feature is its internal storm-water retention vault, which is designed to save money and reduce environmental impact by managing storm-water runoff.
Construction Delays
The initial estimated completion date for Parking Garage H was December 2011. However, the project experienced delays due to the finalization of contract and permit details, pushing the actual completion date to several months later.

Gameday Parking Information
During football game days, Parking Garage H plays a significant role in accommodating fans. Although tailgating is not permitted inside the garage, it offers a convenient parking option for those attending games at the nearby Acrisure Bounce House.
Fans without permits have the option to park in Garage H for a minimum donation of $30, with payments accepted via credit card. These donations support student scholarships, making it a philanthropic choice for game day parking.
Preferred parking lots and garages, including Garage H, are located in the northeast sector of campus, offering the closest proximity to Acrisure Bounce House. Note that parking in Gold Zone lots requires a valid football game-day parking permit, or an Accessibility permit for fans with disabilities parking in designated spaces.
Accessibility and Shuttle Services
UCF provides accessible parking options for guests with disabilities. On game days, accessible parking is available on the first level of Garage C on a first-come, first-served basis, provided a valid DMV permit is displayed. Garage C is located near the intersection of Ken Dixon Way and Gemini Boulevard.
A free shuttle service is available to transport patrons with disabilities from Garage C to Acrisure Bounce House (Gate 13). These shuttles operate from three hours prior to kickoff until two hours after kickoff. Postgame, shuttles are available at Gate 13 to return patrons to Garage C.

Additional accessible parking spaces are available throughout the campus on a first-come, first-served basis for guests with authorized DMV permits. However, direct shuttle service is not available for these spaces.
Courtesy tram services are also offered on game days to assist guests needing transportation to the Accessibility shuttle bus pickup/drop-off point at the Research 1 Bus Stop, adjacent to Garage C.
Campus Parking Policies
While Garage H provides a paid parking option during events, UCF offers free parking on a first-come, first-served basis in most other lots and garages on campus. Exceptions include residential lots and the Libra Garage on Libra Drive, which are reserved for students living on campus at all times. Furthermore, parking lots H2-H4 and B9 are now reserved for fans with Gold Zone permits due to construction reducing parking around Acrisure Bounce House. Parking lot B4, located at the intersection of Central Florida Boulevard and Gemini Boulevard South, is reserved for official university business.
It is crucial to park only in designated parking lots and garages. Vehicles parked illegally on campus roadways or in non-designated areas are subject to towing and fines. Vehicular traffic and parking are not authorized on East Plaza Drive on game days until two hours after the game ends, unless authorized by UCF Police.
Park and Ride Services
To further alleviate parking congestion, UCF provides Park and Ride services on all home game days. Fans can park at the Research Pavilion, located at 12424 Research Parkway in the Central Florida Research Park, adjacent to campus. Shuttle buses transport fans from the Research Pavilion to the Research 1 bus loop, which is adjacent to Parking Garage C. Postgame, fans can return to the Research 1 Bus Stop for transportation back to the Research Pavilion. No tailgating is permitted at the Research Pavilion.

Student Shuttle Services
UCF operates student shuttle buses from various apartment complexes (excluding NorthView, Tivoli, and Northgate) on home football game days. These shuttles run from five hours prior to the start of the game until two hours after the game ends. The on-campus shuttle routes Pegasus Express do not operate on game days. Note that the shuttles are designed for passengers with light carry-on items only; large items such as coolers, tents, and lawn chairs are not permitted.
Shuttles also operate from the UCF Downtown Campus and the Rosen College Campus to the main campus on game days.
Virtual Parking Permits
UCF has implemented a virtual parking permit system that uses license plate recognition (LPR) technology. This system eliminates the need for physical permits, making the process more efficient and sustainable. Customers register their vehicle's license plate information online when purchasing their virtual permits. Cameras mounted on enforcement vehicles capture license plates and automatically verify permit validity against the parking database.
Annual and 150-day virtual permits are available, and customers can add a second vehicle to their account for an additional fee. However, only one vehicle per account can be parked on campus at any given time.
Additional Parking Information
Free parking is not generally available on campus; parking requires a UCF parking permit or payment of a daily fee. Residential parking permits are restricted to their respective housing communities during certain hours.
Hourly parking spaces are located at the Visitor and Parking Information Center. Garage F is free for guests visiting Knights Plaza, except during events.
UCF Parking and Transportation Services also offers complimentary motorist assist services to faculty, staff, and student permit holders.
