EA SPORTS College Football 25: Dynasty Mode - Building Your Legacy

EA SPORTS is bringing back college football with College Football 25, immersing fans in the iconic settings, stadiums, and traditions of college football. The game aims to set a new standard for college football greatness, whether building a dream team of college football stars and legends, recruiting a winning roster, or developing a coaching staff. While many may not care about microtransactions and multiplayer, Dynasty Mode is a major focus for many players, offering the thrill of crafting fantasy worlds.

Dynasty Mode: Forge Your Empire

Dynasty Mode allows players to create a coach and take control of their own college football program. It's about establishing your coaching staff and then working to recruit the best talent either straight from high school or direct from the transfer portal.

Selecting Your Program: The Split Zone Duo Field Guide to Dynasty Mode Enjoyment (SZDFG2DME)

Choosing the right team to guide to glory is a crucial decision. With 134 options, it's a big decision in consequence and scope. Here's a breakdown of team categories to consider:

  • Your Favorite Team: A classic choice. For some, this might be Maryland.
  • Power Conference Longshots: Take a non-blue-blood program in a major conference to the top. The recruiting is more manageable, and you get more games against top-tier opponents. Examples include Arizona, Kentucky, and Iowa State. Guiding Oklahoma State to a national title is barely a lesser feat than doing it at Tulsa.
  • The Group of 5 Hipster Menu: These teams might have unique stadiums, a history of success, or a decent roster to start with. Enjoy playing on Boise State's blue turf or Appalachian State's mountain field. Consider turning around programs like Middle Tennessee or East Carolina. Options include Appalachian State, Boise State, and East Carolina.
  • Football Masochism: For those who want a challenge, these programs require building from the ground up. Embrace weeknight games in tough conditions and little national attention. Try to build a winning program at Charlotte or New Mexico State. Teams like Akron, UMass, and New Mexico State fit this category.
  • Playbook Schools: These teams offer unique offensive styles. Army, Navy, and Air Force run the flexbone option. Enjoy running RPOs at UCF or Brennan Marion's "Go-Go Offense" at UNLV. You can also take these playbooks to other schools. Teams include Air Force, Navy, and UCF.
  • Transplant Candidates: Repair the world by moving teams to different conferences. Create a Big 12 lifeboat for Oregon State and Washington State. Put Tulane back in the SEC. Or bump Memphis up to the Big 12. Options include Hawaii, Tulane, and Washington State.
  • Defy Gravity: Pretend we live in a world where Miami can still build the best roster. Ignore Nebraska's decline or make sure a smart-kid school is invested in football. Consider Miami, Nebraska, and Stanford.
  • Cop Mode: Choose a powerhouse program. Includes teams such as Alabama, Georgia, and Ohio State.

Coaching Staff and Skill Trees: A Deeper Dive

In NCAA 14, leveling up a coaching skill progression tree was straightforward, with most players maxing out recruiting as quickly as possible. That's no longer the case. Coaches will have a substantially more complicated skill tree in CFB25, with 11 possible branches that provide boosts to recruiting, tactics, motivation, and more. Developers have stated that even over a 30-year coaching career, you won't be able to max out every branch.

For the first time in the series, players can now specifically hire offensive and defensive coordinators, individuals who will have their own coaching skill trees. If your head coach is recruiting-focused, do you hire recruiting-centric assistants to double up on those bonuses, or do you hire coordinators whose skillsets complement that of your head coach? Do you fire a coordinator who might be a poor fit but is close to some of your biggest recruits? Those coordinators could also potentially leave to become head coaches in the offseason. Or maybe a current head coach is somebody you could hire to be a coordinator.

Recruiting and the Transfer Portal: Building Your Roster

Recruiting encompasses both high school prospects and the transfer portal. The newest installment allows you to take full control over your recruiting, starting with setting up a board and scouts that will maximize certain recruiting pipelines. The transfer portal is also featured in College Football 25, for both college athletes and coaches alike.

Additional Gameplay Features

  • Wear & Tear System: As the hits add up, players wear down with the Wear & Tear System. Game players will need to manage their rosters’ health, limit fatigue and make substitution decisions.
  • Pre-Snap Recognition: Pre-Snap Recognition makes the decision behind every snap matter more.
  • Homefield Advantage: Game-altering homefield advantages rattle your rivals in college football's toughest places to play.
  • Pageantry & Traditions: Revel in the storied traditions that electrify college football stadiums every Saturday.
  • Commentary & Broadcast: Listen to the iconic voices of Chris Fowler and Kirk Herbstreit as they call marquee matchups, while Rece Davis, Jesse Palmer, and David Pollack take the mic for all other games.

Other Game Modes

  • Road To Glory: Live the life of a student-athlete with your created player and take home the Heisman as you build an unforgettable college football legacy. Players will have to manage their weekly schedule, GPA and image, as well as earn Coach Trust to get more playing time.
  • Road to the College Football Playoff: Experience a new way to play competitively across consoles in the Road to the College Football Playoff. Earn rank by upsetting the toughest opponents and securing the votes you need to progress and level up divisions.
  • College Football Ultimate Team: Build your dream team of college football stars and legends. Play Solo Challenges or H2H Seasons to upgrade your squad and take on the toughest contests. In this mode, players can build teams of stars and legends. In NCAA Football 14, only former college players were available in Ultimate Team. Building a team involves winning or purchasing in-game credits.
