Premier Equipment CNC Scholarship

The Premier Equipment CNC Scholarship is a $2,000 scholarship available to mechanical engineering students or any student interested in pursuing a career in CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machining or CNC programming. This scholarship can be put toward tuition, room and board, textbooks, or any other financial expenses related to their education.

Eligibility and Application

The scholarship is open to students interested in becoming a CNC machinist or a CNC programmer. To apply, students must submit a personal essay explaining why they should be considered for the scholarship. The application also requires a letter of recommendation and an academic transcript. The scholarship recipient must be a full-time student. The IFDA Educational Foundation Board will select the scholarship recipient based on the student's academic achievement, future plans, and goals.

The application opens Wednesday, March 8th, and all applications must be submitted by December 1st, 2025.

Premier Equipment Veteran Scholarship

Recognizing the sacrifices and dedication of those who have served in the United States military, Premier Equipment offers the Veteran Scholarship. This annual award provides $1,000 to college students who have served in the United States military and are currently majoring in manufacturing, engineering, or those aspiring to join the manufacturing industry.

Eligibility and Application

The Premier Equipment Veteran Scholarship supports Veterans and Active Military members in achieving their academic goals and future careers in manufacturing, engineering, CNC machining, and CNC programming. The $1,000 scholarship can be used for tuition, room and board, textbooks, or other educational expenses.

Candidates must submit their DD-214 to verify Honorable Discharge. All applications must be submitted by Feb 14th, 2025.

Additional Manufacturing Scholarships

While the Premier Equipment scholarships provide valuable support, several other scholarships are available to students pursuing manufacturing-related fields. These include:

  • IFDA Educational Foundation Student Scholarship: A $2,000 scholarship available through the IFDA Educational Foundation to a full-time, current student member of IFDA who has completed a minimum of four design courses in a post-secondary interior design or related program. Open to currently enrolled, full-time undergraduate IFDA student members.
  • PACCAR Scholarship Award: This scholarship is for full-time undergraduate students enrolled in a degree program in manufacturing engineering technology or mechanical engineering technology at the University of North Texas. Applicants must have completed a minimum of 60 college credit hours, possess an overall minimum grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, and be seeking a career in manufacturing engineering technology or mechanical engineering technology. Preference is given to applicants with demonstrated vehicle interest or experience.
  • Caterpillar Scholars Award Program: This program is for full-time students enrolled in a degree program in manufacturing engineering who have completed a minimum of 30 college credit hours and are seeking a career in manufacturing engineering. Applicants must possess an overall minimum grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Lucile B. Kaufman Women's Scholarship Award: This scholarship is for full-time undergraduate female students enrolled in a degree program in manufacturing engineering or manufacturing engineering technology who have completed a minimum of 30 college credit hours and are seeking a career in manufacturing engineering or manufacturing engineering technology. Applicants must possess an overall minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Wayne Kay Scholarship Award: This scholarship is for full-time students enrolled in a degree program in manufacturing engineering or manufacturing engineering technology who have completed a minimum of 30 college credit hours and are seeking a career in manufacturing engineering or manufacturing engineering technology. Applicants must possess an overall minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Myrtle and Earl Walker Scholarship Award: This scholarship is for full-time students enrolled in a degree program in manufacturing engineering or manufacturing engineering technology who have completed a minimum of 30 college credit hours and are seeking a career in manufacturing engineering technology. Applicants must possess an overall minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale.
  • William E. Weisel Scholarship Award: This scholarship is for full-time students enrolled in a degree program in engineering or technology and seeking a career in robotics or automated systems. Applicants must have completed a minimum of 30 college credit hours and be seeking a career in manufacturing, robotics, or automated systems. Applicants must possess an overall minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and be United States or Canadian citizens.
  • Wayne Kay Graduate Fellowship Award: The Wayne Kay Scholarship Fund provides fellowship awards for students and Teacher's Assistants in a graduate program for a Master's or Doctorate degree in Manufacturing Engineering or Industrial Engineering, and for faculty pursuing a Doctorate degree in Manufacturing Engineering. Fellowship applicants must be full-time students accepted in a graduate program for manufacturing engineering or industrial engineering, possess an overall minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, and have proven scholastic ability, exemplary character and leadership capability, and have demonstrated their potential for future leadership in the profession.
  • Anthony C. Fortunski, P.E. Memorial Grant: Preference is given to a student attending Lawrence Technological University, majoring in manufacturing engineering, who demonstrates an interest in general fields of manufacturing and industry. Applicants must be a member of an MSPE Student Chapter, if available on campus, or a State member-at-large, a citizen and a resident of Michigan, be in an ABET accredited engineering program at a Michigan college or university, have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, submit recommendations from at least two professors in the applicant's field of engineering study or appropriate math/science professor, and demonstrate leadership and an interest in the engineering profession through involvement in school and/or outside activities.
  • David and Barbara Kruse Paw Paw High School Scholarship: This scholarship is for graduating high school seniors or graduates of Paw Paw High School who are planning to pursue training in technical fields, enrolled or planning to enroll full or part time in a technical school trade school or community college, and enrolled in a course of study that will lead to a career in the field of technology (e.g., auto technician, graphic design, information or manufacturing technology).

General Scholarship Application Evaluation Criteria

Several criteria are commonly used by review committees when evaluating scholarship applications:

  1. Students from an Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology/Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board (ABET/CEAB) accredited program in Manufacturing Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering Technology, or specifically stated programs are ordinarily given preference over those from 1) non-accredited programs or 2) those from other disciplines.
  2. Students enrolled in industrial technology, industrial technical education, engineering management, manufacturing management, or who are in technician or machine operator programs are virtually always rejected unless stated in the individual announcement.
