Community Assistant (CA) Position

The Community Assistant (CA) position is a valuable opportunity for undergraduate students to develop leadership skills, contribute to the residential community, and gain valuable experience in student support.

Role and Responsibilities:

Community Assistants (CAs) are undergraduate student staff members who reside on campus. They play a crucial role in helping students adjust to university life, fostering a positive community environment, and addressing interpersonal issues. CAs serve as a primary point of contact for students facing challenges or seeking guidance.

Their responsibilities include:

  • Assisting students with acclimating to the university environment.
  • Building a positive community within the residence halls.
  • Navigating interpersonal concerns and conflicts.
  • Facilitating roommate mediation.
  • Responding to crises and emergencies.
  • Enforcing university policies.
  • Identifying campus resources for students.
  • Providing general residential assistance.

CAs are available to students throughout the day and a CA on duty is available every night from 8:00 pm to 7:00 am. The CA on duty can be reached by calling the duty phone for the specific building, with the number posted around the hall. The CA should be your first contact for situations such as: roommate conflicts, getting involved in your community, identifying campus resources, and other residential assistance.
