Both the university-wide Career Engagement office and the Albers School of Business & Economics Career Center offer a comprehensive suite of services and resources designed to help individuals explore career options, develop essential skills, and connect with employers. Comprehensive Career Support at Seattle University
First Year and Career Services envisions a community where students own and shape their personal and professional journeys, aligning their values and interests with meaningful careers. Through self-assessment and exploration, they guide students to develop career paths that enhance their lives and contribute to their communities. First Year and Career Services is dedicated to educating and supporting students as they explore career options, build confidence, and strengthen skills. They offer holistic, culturally responsive career development and coaching to help students achieve their personal, academic, and professional goals.
Serving and supporting students and alumni is at the heart of all that they do. They know the career journey can sometimes be intimidating and overwhelming and are there to guide students through the process and ultimately help them find meaningful work and purpose.
Career Engagement: University-Wide Resources
Career Engagement provides several online resources, available 24/7, to help students in their career exploration, discovery of experiential learning opportunities, job search, interview preparation, and more.
- Handshake: A powerful platform used by over 200,000 employers, including all Fortune 500 companies, to post jobs and internships. Students can use Handshake to find upcoming employer events and workshops, attend career fairs, and search for on-campus jobs, part-time employment, internships, and full-time roles.
- Individual Advising: Career planning, job search strategies, resume reviews, and interview prep are available through individual advising appointments. Students can meet with advisors virtually or in-person.
Albers Career Center: Specialized Support for Business Students
The Albers Career Center focuses on connecting students and the business community. They provide job search preparation assistance, information on job and internship opportunities, employer resources, and professional development programs. Their goal is to assist the students and alumni of the Albers School of Business & Economics to be successful in their career development and job placement activities.

- Albers Career Crawl: An event that introduces students to resources to help with academic/career planning, campus engagement, resume building, internship and job searches, and much more in a fun rotational style event.
Experiential Learning Opportunities
Internships
Learn firsthand about a variety of industries, job roles, and organizations through internships and experiential learning. Participate in internships to gain hands-on professional experience. Internships are a great way to get a foot in the door with a company as well as gain a better idea of what careers you are interested in.
Company Treks
Company Treks offer students a unique opportunity to go off-campus and get a "behind the scenes" look at what it's like to work in various corporate environments and experience company cultures firsthand. Students get to participate in a company tour, learn from various speakers and employee panels about career paths and job opportunities, and mingle with SU alumni and company representatives to build their network.
- PACCAR Kenworth Factory Tour: Students have the opportunity to experience firsthand the PACCAR Renton Kenworth plant to see where all the truck manufacturing magic happens. They can learn more about PACCAR, hear about career path opportunities, network with PACCAR employees and tour the Kenworth Plant, Parts Distribution Center and Information Technology Division.
- Microsoft Redmond Campus Visit: A unique opportunity to get a behind the scenes look at what it's like to work at Microsoft. Students participate in a company tour, hear a presentation from a Microsoft recruiter, learn from a panel of Albers alums who work in various roles and divisions at the company, and mingle/network with other SU alums and mentors who work at Microsoft.
Networking and Mentorship Programs
Albers Mentor Programs
Build a relationship with an alum or organizational leader to gain helpful career advice and build your professional network through the highly acclaimed Albers Mentor Programs. Albers has 3 career mentoring programs to provide students the unique opportunity to interact with upper- level executives from leading Puget Sound companies and organizations.
- Mentor Fair: This event gives students the unique opportunity to meet and mingle with some of the mentors before submitting their mentor preferences.
Career Fairs and Networking Events
The Albers Career Center hosts 2 major networking events per year: The Albers Career Night (for undergraduates) and the Albers Grad Career Connections (for graduate students). Both help students make important career connections with alumni, mentors and employers. Students can practice their networking skills and build relationships with professionals who can provide guidance for their career planning.
The Albers Career Center partners with the SU Career Engagement Office to host 2 career fairs a year: The Business & Engineering Career Fair in fall quarter and the Career & Internship Fair in winter quarter. Both Fairs allow students to connect directly with employers and recruiters and learn about job and internship opportunities.

Employers and students have the opportunity to engage in multiple ways including company information sessions (virtual or in-person), company tours, on-campus interviews, or presentations at Albers club meetings.
Industry Insights Panels
A panel of experts from a TBD industry will provide insight about trends, career opportunities and AI in the industry.
Professional Development Resources
Various seminars, panels, and workshops are provided throughout the year on career topics such as job search strategies, recruiting tips, internships, resumes, salary negotiations and industry insights.
The Albers Wardrobe
Need professional clothing items for interviews, career fairs, networking events, or your internship? Visit the Albers Wardrobe! Gently worn professional clothes are donated by SU community members and are available to students in need for free to keep. Book an appointment to visit the Albers Wardrobe and they’ll help you look your best!
Because financial need should never stand in the way of your career goals, they created The Albers Wardrobe. This program is specifically for business students with limited financial resources. The Wardrobe provides free new and gently used professional clothing for interviews, career fairs, networking events, internships, and more. All items are available at no cost and do not need to be returned.
