Linda Owusuwaa Danso, a resident of Anyaa-Palas Town, Accra, completed SHS last year. Due to a weak grade in Mathematics, she was taking remedial classes to improve her chances of university enrollment. One morning in May 2019, Linda's life took a dangerous turn on her way to class.
While walking towards the 'school junction' to catch a "trotro" (commercial bus), a taxi driver offered her a ride. "He mentioned my name and asked if I was going to school. He said I looked late and offered to drop me off at the Junction," Linda recounted. The driver seemed familiar, so she accepted the offer and sat in the back with two other men.
During the ride, strange occurrences made her uneasy. One of the men handed the driver a ten Ghana cedis note and signaled him to stop at an unknown location. Later, they asked her the time and insisted she verify it on her phone, making her increasingly uncomfortable.

The situation escalated when the driver asked Linda to help him push a black polythene bag into the car's carrier compartment. As she did, she noticed a man beside her holding a white handkerchief laced with a powdered substance, ready to force it on her nose. Realizing she was in danger, Linda acted quickly. "It dawned on me that I'm in big trouble, and if care is not taken I'll never get to see my parents again. Then all of a sudden I reached out to the doorknob and pulled it open by force. I was lucky it wasn't locked up and I began to yell for help."
Linda's escape wasn't immediate. The driver only stopped when a "trotro" driver crossed his path. "One of my legs was outside the car while the driver was still driving without stopping despite my cry for help. If it hadn't been that trotro driver he wouldn't have braked for me to escape."
Linda believes divine intervention saved her from a fate similar to the Takoradi girls. She vowed never to accept rides from strangers or even acquaintances again. "Whether from a familiar person or not, I vow never to accept any offer of that sort again in my entire life in order to always stay safe."

About a year later, I heard from a friend that a rumor was going around I had become an addict and dropped out of school to move to LA where I was working as a prostitute to pay for my drug habit.
