Shape the Future: A Guide to the Education Career in The Sims 4
The Sims 4 Discover University Expansion Pack introduces the Education Career, offering Sims the opportunity to shape young minds and influence the academic world. This career path allows players to delve into the world of academia, choosing between two distinct branches: the Administrative branch, which focuses on the management and budgeting aspects of education, and the Professor branch, which is centered around teaching and scholarly pursuits. This guide provides a comprehensive overview of the Education Career, its branches, and how to make the most of this enriching career path.
Embarking on Your Academic Journey
Like any career in The Sims 4, your Sim can join the Education Career by using a computer, a laptop, their cell phone, or the job tab on the user interface. A degree related to the chosen career path will allow your Sim to begin at a higher level. Upon joining the career, you'll be prompted to start the first Work From Home Assignment/Work Assignment/Daily Task, which you can begin immediately or postpone. When it is time for your first shift, you can choose to Go To Work, Work from Home, or Take Paid Time Off (PTO). Choosing to Go To Work or Work From Home will contribute to your Sim's next promotion.
Work From Home Perks
The Education Career offers the flexibility of working from home, allowing Sims to complete tasks and earn a paycheck without going to a traditional workplace. While the pay remains the same, performance gains may be slightly delayed. You'll need to use the Teacher's Portfolio found in your Sim's inventory to grade papers. Early on, teachers unlock the desk and apple clock. Teachers can eventually tutor students online for a small side income.
The Administrative Branch: Running the School
The Administrator Branch focuses on the operational and financial aspects of education. Sims in this branch are involved in budgeting, planning, and administrative tasks.
Tasks and Skills
A lot of the work from home tasks will revolve around using the computer to review budget proposals, plan agendas for meetings, and writing recommendation letters. Planning an agenda makes Sims confident, as does Create Lesson Plan, but only for about 3 hours. Creating a lesson plan raises logic, while many of the others raise Research and Debate. Tasks often involve using the computer to review budget proposals, plan meeting agendas, and write recommendation letters. These tasks primarily enhance the Research and Debate skill, essential for career advancement.

- Dean of Admissions*
- Director of Academics
- Vice-Chancellor
- Head Chancellor
*The * indicates levels you need a Standard, Honors, or Distinguished Honors degree for.
Key Skills
The Administrative branch relies more on Logic and Research and Debate skills.
Rewards and Recognition

The Professor Branch: Shaping Young Minds
The Professor Branch is geared towards Sims who are passionate about teaching and research. Professors focus on educating students and advancing their knowledge in a specific field.

Tasks and Skills
Professors focus hard on the educating side of education, aiming to make it to the top of the food chain as a tenured professor. They get a few Computer-related abilities, like Plan Lecture, which raises logic and gives a Prepared to Teach moodlet. Their Daily Task of Write Scholarly Paper doesn't seem to do much. Overall they have less 'abilities' than the Administrator when it comes to computer. Professors spend their time writing scholarly papers and planning lectures. Plan Lecture raises logic and gives a Prepared to Teach moodlet. While Write Scholarly Paper doesn't seem to do much.
Branch Levels
The Professor branch consists of the following levels:
- Intrepid Instructor
- Lead Lecturer*
- Adjunct Professor*
- Tenured Professor*
- Master Educator
*The * indicates levels you need a Standard, Honors, or Distinguished Honors degree for.
Key Skills
The Professor branch relies more on Logic and Charisma skills.
Rewards and Recognition
Like administrators, professors receive a teacher's desk, apple clock, and an award to showcase their achievements.

Skills for Success in Education Career
The Education Career relies heavily on the new Research and Debate skill that came with the Expansion. It's a nice skill focused on learning and convincing others. Regardless of the chosen branch, certain skills are crucial for success in the Education Career:
- Research and Debate: This skill is essential for both branches, enabling Sims to conduct research, formulate arguments, and present ideas effectively.
- Logic: Logic is particularly important for creating lesson plans, writing scholarly papers, and analyzing data.
- Charisma: Charisma is beneficial for professors who need to engage with students, deliver lectures, and build relationships.
The Impact of Degrees
Having a degree can significantly impact your Sim's career trajectory in the Education Career. Sims with degrees may start at a higher level in their chosen branch, giving them a head start in their professional journey. In fact, with a distinguished degree with honors in psychology, sims start their education at level 10 professor.
Making a Difference
The Education Career in The Sims 4 is perfect for Sims who love learning, leadership, and legacy. Whether your Sim thrives on lecturing students, writing scholarly papers, or running the entire university, this career provides rich storytelling opportunities, unique objects, and modest fame. Great for players who enjoy realism, structured gameplay, and watching their Sims leave a mark on the future! The Education Career offers a fulfilling and impactful experience, allowing Sims to shape the future generation and leave a lasting legacy in the world of academia. Overall the difference in these two careers is not very great as far as I'm able to tell. One focuses more on Logic, the other on Charisma. Neither had any fantastic rewards for me to discover.
